Anne McMillan Cancer Fund Anne McMillan Anne McMillan is an amazing woman. Children are drawn to her because of her ability to guide, engage, and comfort them.

She is a loving single mother who has spent her entire life working hard to provide for her family of five children. Her abilities are surely a result of being one of the eldest of ten siblings. After caring for her children at home, Anne used her education degree to teach preschoolers at Blessed Sacrament School in Tonawanda, NY. This fit in perfectly with her two loves; children and God. Though

the school closed in 2007, Anne is able to still fill her life with six grandchildren. What little free time she had is spent watching her grandchildren, supporting her youngest daughter, who still lives at home, and volunteering for various church events. After suffering through unemployment, Anne finally found a profession that utilized her unique abilities. In 2008, she started working full time as an activities coordinator at Elderwood Nursing Home. Hands on activities and constant engagement provide a bright spot in the day of the residents. In order to supplement this income Anne also worked part time at Toys-R-Us. Anne is now currently unable to work and the constant struggle to make ends meet has now become harder. Her life changed dramatically last week, when she was diagnosed with cancer. She had been sick this spring, with terrible respiratory symptoms and persistent fevers. She made numerous trips to various doctors, without a definitive diagnosis. At the end of May, she was taken urgently to Buffalo General Hospital, where the diagnosis of Stage IV metastatic stomach cancer was finally made. As her family, this came as a shock to us all - our mother whom we love so much, being labeled with such a daunting word; cancer. Doctors at Roswell Park Cancer Institute have given her a poor prognosis, and say that life may be measured in months, not years. Despite this, Anne has decided to fight this terrible disease, and will be starting chemotherapy next week. The costs associated with such a terrible diagnosis will be overwhelming, as Anne will not be able to return to either of her jobs. Through this website, we hope to raise funds to offset her medical expenses and daily costs of living. We also wish to show our love and appreciation for a woman who has touched the lives of so many people. We want to reduce the financial burden so that she can focus solely on fighting this terrible disease. We share in her resolve and cherish the hope that she will walk amongst the survivors. Hello All,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our mother, Anne McMillan, at the young age of 62. Mom passed on September 29th, surrounded by her family and an abundance of love. Mom had been bravely fighting stage four stomach cancer since June of this year. She was able to celebrate a wonderful 62nd birthday with her children and family members, but experienced a rapid decline in health just a few short days afterwards. We were blessed with the opportunity to spend time together with Mom during her final week, giving her love and support for her upcoming journey home to God. She drew on her amazing strength to give hugs, kisses, and smiles for her grandchildren, even during her final day.

We want to thank all of you, for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We take great comfort in the fact that her gentle, warm, caring nature, and unwavering faith will leave everyone with fond memories of such a beautiful person. She is unquestionably on the express route to eternal happiness with God in heaven.
