TRT for men—myth vs reality 👇

❌ TRT causes heart attacks
➡️ Outdated concern. Current evidence shows no clear increase in cardiovascular risk when properly prescribed and monitored.

⚠️ High cholesterol + TRT
➡️ Maybe. TRT can improve body composition, but lipids still need close monitoring.

❌ Uncontrolled high blood pressure + TRT
➡️ No. Get BP under control first—non-negotiable.

✅ TRT + resistance training
➡️ Yes. Lifting amplifies muscle, metabolism, and insulin sensitivity. If you’re not training, you’re missing the point.

❌ Estrogen blockers for everyone
➡️ Hard no. Estrogen matters for bone, brain, and overall health. Only use if truly needed.

⚠️ TRT and fertility
➡️ Yes—it can suppress s***m production. If you want kids, consider alternatives first.

❌ TRT without labs
➡️ Absolutely not. You need ongoing monitoring (hormones, lipids, hematocrit, etc.).

⚠️ TRT in obesity
➡️ Maybe. Higher body fat = more testosterone converting to estrogen. Fat loss first often leads to better outcomes.

Bottom line: TRT isn’t magic, it’s a tool. Use it correctly or don’t use it at all.

🚨 One of the biggest TRT mistakes I see? Putting every man on estrogen blockers.

Estrogen is not the enemy.

It supports bone health, brain health, libido, and long term health. Yet too many men are over suppressed on cookie cutter protocols and feel worse, not better.

Good TRT isn’t about blocking hormones by default. It’s about individualized care, proper labs, and only intervening when truly needed.

Low estrogen can be just as problematic as high estrogen.

Treat the patient, not just the number.

If you’re not lifting consistently… you’re probably missing the foundation.

Testosterone can support progress, but resistance training is what actually drives changes in muscle and metabolic health 💪

When you train regularly:
🔥 you build lean mass
🩸 you support better insulin sensitivity
⚙️ your metabolism becomes more efficient

This is why I tell patients to dial in training first before considering any therapy.

A lot of guys ask me this 👇

“If I don’t qualify for TRT… was getting labs even worth it?”

Absolutely. 100%.

Here’s the truth most clinics won’t tell you.

Not every man should start testosterone right away.

For example, if someone has a lot of excess body fat, testosterone can convert into estrogen in fat tissue through a process called aromatization.

That can lead to side effects like fatigue, water retention, or breast tissue changes.

So instead of rushing someone onto TRT just to make a sale, the smarter approach is health optimization first.

That might mean
🏃 improving lifestyle habits
🥗 improving nutrition and metabolic health
💉 medical weight management when appropriate
🧬 optimizing hormones and inflammation markers

Once the metabolism and body composition improve, that’s when hormone therapy may work much better.

Sometimes the pre treatment phase is just as important as the treatment itself.

Good medicine is not about giving everyone the same therapy.

It’s about getting your body ready so the therapy actually works.
