June's Gifts
Planting flowers is a practice of patience. Especially this year as I was gifted Zinnia seeds to plant. Each seed, precisely placed 1/4 in down and 6 inches apart with water and sunlight will by June have the beginnings of their summer show. Usually, I would put in the plants already blooming from the nursery. There is instant gratification in that. So, I will see how this goes. (This photo is from last year at Mangus Farm) Just like the seeds, I will be taking my time to nourish my body, mind, and spirit with water, sunlight, and rest. I hope you do as well. Enjoy the gifts of summer.
Addendum - I drafted this email the morning I was going out to garden. The sun was bright and I felt the rush of spring ready to flow into summer. Gathering my tools and plants, I went for the gas-powered leaf blower for its power and faster work as opposed to the battery pull the trigger blower. It has always been difficult to start, and as I pulled for the 4th time on the line to start the engine, my balance was thown instead. Down and back I went with such force that I broke my leg near the hip.
As I lie on the ground I thought," well this changes things again". A few choice words flew out of my mouth each time I tried to move. There is more to the story and I will jump to the end to spare your time.
I am home, recovering after surgical repair doing little chair yoga and breathing along with my PT exercises. There is a deep gratitude for my yoga practice as I know I would not be doing as well as I am without the gifts of the practice. Breathing in healing, breathing out tension and pain. The strength in my upper body and right leg help me to move with confidence, and my awareness helps me to know when to exercise and when to rest. Keep up your practice!!
Summer at Selah Studio - -
I know you can assume by now that I will be taking a break, from teaching until September. Though I am doing well I am aware of the need to allow enough time and space for healing.
I encourage you to find a class or instructor to continue your practice and recommend Hillary in Hector.
