I actually had someone tell me, “You can buy this on Temu,” while I was vending in Hartsel, CO.

And they’re right… you CAN buy a lot of the same-looking “crystals” on Temu. But what you’re taking a HUGE gamble on is their AUTHENTICITY!!

Please be careful buying crystals from places like Temu. As the original author stated—and as I can attest from my own experience—you’re more than likely to come across dyed stones, resin, glass, or other materials being marketed as something they’re not.

There’s a difference between something that looks like a crystal and knowing what you’re actually buying.

If you’re looking for genuine crystals, support small businesses and crystal sellers who actually care about their products, know what they’re selling, and purchase through reputable, trusted sources. 💜✨

Yes, you might find it cheaper on Temu. But cheaper doesn’t always mean you’re buying the same thing.

When people say to me "🤣 I can buy that crystal on Temu for $15! I'm not paying you $50!" Well... here's your "genuine" crystals from Temu. I bought these just to make a point. Please don't buy your crystals from Temu. You'll end up with a handful of resin garbage. Shop with a reputable seller who has trusted sources. Shop with me at Curiosity Cabinet Apothecary, shop with The Green Cauldron, shop with any of the small businesses who work hard to find the best materials at good prices.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE CONFUSED, I'M NOT SAYING A BAG OF GENUINE CRYSTALS IN THIS SHAPE AND SIZE WOULD BE $50.🙄

⚠️ PSA TO MY FELLOW SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS, VENDORS & MERCHANTS — PLEASE BE CAREFUL! ⚠️

I wanted to share an interaction I had this weekend because I can very easily see another small business owner falling for something like this.

Thankfully, I did NOT lose any money or merchandise. My gut was telling me something wasn’t quite right throughout the conversation, so I remained cautious. But I’m sharing the screenshots because I think it’s important for other vendors to recognize how these scams can unfold.

I reached out to this person after they showed interest in some of my products via a friend’s post. They initially seemed interested in purchasing several pieces. They eventually told me they were a reseller and asked whether I would offer a bulk discount. Nothing inherently strange about that — vendors and resellers buy from one another all the time.

We agreed on five pieces for $22.50, and they told me their “sister” would come pick them up the following day. They then asked to pay ahead of time through Venmo.

Again, not necessarily suspicious on its own.

I provided my Venmo information, and shortly afterward they told me the payment had been sent and asked me to check for confirmation.

There was no payment in my Venmo account.

That’s when things got interesting. 🚩

They claimed Venmo had contacted them saying the payment was “on hold” because this was supposedly my first time receiving money from a business account.

It isn’t. 😂

I receive and send business payments regularly.

They then claimed they were speaking with a Venmo “supervisor” and offered to give me a number to call so I could resolve the supposed hold.

At that point, there was absolutely no question in my mind that something was wrong.

I checked the actual Venmo account/app. No payment. No legitimate notification about a payment being held.

The Facebook profile/content associated with the interaction also became unavailable afterward, as shown in the screenshots.

I’m sharing this because small businesses and independent vendors work WAY too hard for our inventory and money to hand either over to someone because they show us a “payment confirmation.”

🚨 PLEASE REMEMBER:

• Never consider an item paid for simply because someone says they sent the money.
• Do not rely on screenshots, texts, emails, or messages from the buyer as proof of payment.
• Open the payment app yourself and verify the transaction directly in YOUR account.
• Don’t call a “customer service” or “supervisor” number supplied by the buyer. If there’s supposedly a problem, contact the payment company through its official app or website yourself.
• Do not release merchandise until you can independently verify that you’ve actually been paid.

In my case, nothing was lost. I trusted my instincts, checked everything myself, and the scam went nowhere.

But someone who is newer to selling — especially someone excited about receiving a larger order — could very easily panic when they’re told their account is preventing a payment from going through and follow the instructions they’re given.

That’s why I’m posting this.

Please share this with your vendor friends and fellow small business owners. If it keeps even one person from losing their inventory or money, it’s worth putting out there.
