🌬️ How’s the Air Where You Live?

Before you head outside, check your local air quality! 🌤️

Air quality can change quickly because of wildfire smoke, dust, weather conditions, agricultural activities, and other pollutants. Loup Basin Public Health Department monitors local air conditions using a network of PurpleAir monitors throughout our district.

📍 Our monitors track PM2.5—tiny particles that can affect respiratory and cardiovascular health—and update approximately every 10 minutes, giving you near real-time information about local conditions.

🤰 Pregnant individuals
🫁 People with asthma, COPD, heart disease, or other respiratory or cardiovascular conditions may be more sensitive to poor air quality.

If your home relies on a private well for drinking water, you are responsible for managing and monitoring your water supply.

In Nebraska, about 20% of the population depends on private wells, and approximately 15% of private water supplies have coliform bacteria, elevated nitrate levels, or both.

💧 Regular water testing is an important part of protecting your household's drinking water.

Testing can check for:

How often should you test?
Annual testing for coliform bacteria is recommended for anyone using a private well.
