How do we feel about scalp micropigmentation (SMP)?
For those unfamiliar, SMP is a specialized form of cosmetic tattooing that mimics the appearance of hair follicles, helping create the illusion of fuller hair or a more defined hairline for those experiencing hair thinning or hair loss.
Someone recently asked if this was something I’d consider learning, and naturally, it got me curious.
So today, I sat down with some practice skin to try my hand at dot work.
Was it perfect? Nope. But that wasn’t really the point.
I wanted to see if my ADHD brain could handle the patience, precision, and repetition this technique requires. I’m used to bouncing around between different elements while tattooing, whereas this requires a whole different level of focus.
I’m not going to lie, I had to remind myself to stay on task a few times, but I actually enjoyed the challenge. And I think it’s something I could really enjoy learning and improving on.
Now I’m genuinely curious… is there interest in SMP?
Would you consider it for yourself? Know someone who might benefit?
I’d love to hear your thoughts before making the investment in proper training with a master educator such as SMP INK And Academy and Inkd SMP™ | Scalp Micropigmentation Melbourne Hair Tattoo whose work is pictured in this reel.
