City of Cache, Oklahoma Cache is located near the upper eastern corner of the southwestern quarter of Comanche County, south of the Fort Sill Military Reservation and west of Lawton.

Known as the Gateway To The Wichitas, and home to the Honorary Chief Quanah Parker. The City of Cache, OK (2010 estimated census population of 2,796) is nestled against the hills of the Wichita Mountains near the upper eastern corner of the southwestern quarter of Comanche County. The Wichita Mountains are the principal relief system in the Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen. The Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge, a favorite for hikers and rock climbers in the region, is located adjacent to Cache, Medicine Park, Indiahoma, and historic Meers, and is a short drive from Lawton and Walters. Bison, elk and deer are protected on the 59,020-acre (23,880 ha) wildlife refuge. The mountains are home to numerous working ranches and quarry operations, including a large population of free roaming wildlife, making Cache a beautifully rural, and enticing destination spot for travelers alike. The city is notable as The Gateway to the Wichitas. Cache is also the home of the Honorary Chief, Quanah Parker who was credited as one of the first important leaders of the Native American Church Movement, and his home, The Star House still remains in town today.

PLANNING TO BURN BRUSH? KNOW BEFORE YOU BURN!

The Comanche County Burn Ban expired on October 19, 2026. While there is currently NO countywide burn ban in effect, residents should continue practicing responsible outdoor burning.

BEFORE YOU BURN:

Notify Non-Emergency Dispatch: (580) 581-3272. Provide your name, address, and location of the planned burn. This helps dispatch identify controlled burns if smoke is reported.

Check Weather Conditions: Avoid burning during windy conditions, elevated fire danger, or when an ozone or particulate matter alert is in effect.

Prepare Your Burn Area: Clear combustible vegetation around your brush pile to establish a firebreak. Keep water, shovels, and other firefighting equipment readily available.

Follow Burning Hours: Under Oklahoma DEQ regulations, burning must begin no earlier than three hours after sunrise and no later than three hours before sunset.

Burn Only Permitted Materials: Brush, limbs, and other allowable vegetation generated on your property may generally be burned. Never burn tires, plastics, treated lumber, or other prohibited materials.

Never Leave a Fire Unattended: Maintain control of your burn and ensure all flames and embers are completely extinguished before leaving.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

Smoke must not create hazards for nearby roadways or surrounding properties.

Municipalities may have additional restrictions or permit requirements.

Property owners may be held responsible for damages caused by escaped fires.

Even without a burn ban, conditions may be too dangerous for outdoor burning.

If your fire escapes or becomes uncontrollable, call 911 immediately!

You must call Waste Connections to get on their list. 580-353-1467

Do NOT put bulk at the curb until the weekend before pick-up day.

If you have more than three (3) cubic yards, they will NOT pick up more than that. If you do NOT bundle tree limbs, they will NOT pick up. If you place items less than five (5) feet away from mailbox or parked vehicle, they will NOT pick up. If you have infested items, they will NOT pick up. They will NOT pick up anything over 50 lbs.
