🇺🇸 FOUR VETERANS, TWO SPECIAL QUILT OF VALOR PRESENTATIONS 🇺🇸

Today was another special day for Canyon County Quilts of Valor as we had the privilege of honoring four veterans during two separate award ceremonies.

At our first presentation, during their morning briefing, we were honored to wrap three veterans in their Quilts of Valor:

🇺🇸 Tyler R. – U.S. Navy (2001–2005)

🇺🇸 Christopher C. – U.S. Navy (2000–2005)

🇺🇸 Troy R. – U.S. Army (1984–2023)

Our second presentation took us to the home of June D., a U.S. Air Force veteran who served from 1984–1988.

Whether we are honoring several veterans together or visiting a veteran in their home, each presentation is special to us. These moments remind us why we do what we do.

Every Quilt of Valor is made with love, care, and countless stitches by volunteers who want our veterans to know that their service and sacrifices have not been forgotten.

❤️ To Tyler, Christopher, Troy, and June — thank you for your service to our country. It was truly our honor to recognize each of you today.

🇺🇸 One quilt at a time, one veteran at a time, we continue our mission of honoring those who served. 🇺🇸

During the ceremony, we also had the distinct honor of presenting Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pins to four of our recipients:

🇺🇸 Rex R.
🇺🇸 Larry U.
🇺🇸 Peter C.
🇺🇸 James H.

Each received their Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin and a heartfelt "Welcome Home." For many Vietnam veterans, those two simple words carry a special meaning. They represent the gratitude, respect, and recognition that so many did not receive when they first returned from service.

It was a privilege to recognize these four veterans and remind them that their service and sacrifices have not been forgotten.

❤️ Every Quilt Tells a Story of Gratitude

Each Quilt of Valor is more than fabric and stitches. It represents countless hours of love, dedication, and appreciation from volunteers who want our veterans to know that their service matters.

As these quilts were wrapped around the shoulders of our veterans, we hoped they felt the warmth, comfort, and gratitude of a community that honors their sacrifices.

To all ten veterans, thank you for your courage, commitment, and service to our country. It was our privilege to honor you.

And to our dedicated volunteers, thank you for the time, talent, and love you put into every quilt. You make these special moments possible.

🇺🇸 Honoring Our Veterans at the Boise Basin Quilt Show 🇺🇸

Saturday, September 26, 2026, was another very special day for Canyon County Quilters as we had the privilege of presenting Quilts of Valor during the Boise Basin Quilt Show at the fairgrounds in Garden City, Idaho.

There is something especially meaningful about watching a veteran being wrapped in their Quilt of Valor. Each quilt represents many hours of cutting, sewing, quilting, and binding, but more importantly, it carries with it the gratitude of a community that remembers and appreciates the sacrifices made by those who served.

On this day, we had the honor of wrapping six veterans:

🇺🇸 Army Veterans
• Mina C.
• Zechariah “Zech” D.

🇺🇸 Marine Veterans
• Richard E.
• Timothy “Tim” L.
• Brandon W.

🇺🇸 Navy Veteran
• John G.

As each quilt was placed around their shoulders, we had the opportunity to say something that can never be said too often: Thank you for your service. Thank you for your sacrifice. We have not forgotten.

The ceremony held an additional special moment when John G. was presented with a Vietnam Veteran lapel pin. For our Vietnam veterans, those two simple words carry a meaning that is long overdue:

Welcome Home, John. 🇺🇸

To Mina, Zech, Richard, Tim, Brandon, and John, we hope your Quilt of Valor will always serve as a reminder that your service mattered, your sacrifices are remembered, and there are people in your community who are deeply grateful for what you gave to our country.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the Boise Basin Quilters for welcoming us to their quilt show and providing such a wonderful setting in which to honor these veterans.

For those of us at Canyon County Quilters, these ceremonies are the reason we do what we do. Every stitch eventually leads to this moment—placing a quilt around the shoulders of a veteran and simply saying, “Thank you.” ❤️🤍💙

🇺🇸 A SPECIAL QUILT OF VALOR PRESENTATION 🇺🇸

On September 18th, we had the honor of sharing a very special moment with Navy veteran Justin B., who received his Quilt of Valor at the home of his friend, Kelly A.

Sometimes the smaller, more personal presentations are especially meaningful. Surrounded by friendship and appreciation, Justin was wrapped in a quilt made especially to honor him and thank him for his service to our country.

Justin served in the United States Navy during Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn.

Every Quilt of Valor carries with it many hours of work, countless stitches, and the gratitude of the people who made it. But most importantly, it carries a simple message to the veteran who receives it:

We remember. We appreciate you. And we thank you for your service.

Justin, it was truly our privilege to wrap you in your Quilt of Valor. Thank you for your service and sacrifice to our country. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

🇺🇸 Honoring a Veteran of Two Wars 🇺🇸

Canyon County Quilters had the privilege of presenting a Quilt of Valor to U.S. Marine Corps Captain Harold H., whose service to our country spans two wars.

🦅 U.S. Marine Corps — Captain Harold H.

Captain Harold served during World War II from 1943–1945. Following the war, he returned home and attended the University of Idaho.
