Mother’s Day can hold so many different emotions. For some, it’s breakfast in bed, flowers, laughter, and celebration.
For others, it’s a quiet ache that settles into places words don’t always reach.

Today can stir:
• the loss of a mother
• the loss of a child
• strained or broken relationships
• infertility or unmet dreams
• grief for what should have been
• the exhaustion of carrying everyone else while feeling unseen yourself
• complicated memories that don’t fit neatly into a greeting card

And sometimes… it’s all of those things at once.

So today, I want to honor every version of motherhood and every heart navigating this day the best they can.

To the women who nurture others while learning to nurture themselves…
To the mothers who are grieving…
To the daughters carrying wounds…
To the bonus moms, adoptive moms, grieving moms, hopeful moms, pet moms, spiritual moms, and women who mother through love alone…

You matter.
Your story matters.
Your heart matters.

🩸 ALPHA-GAL SYNDROME: When the Body Reacts to Mammal meats

Most people have never heard of this…
…but it’s becoming more common—especially right here in Missouri.

Alpha-gal syndrome is a type of food allergy triggered by a sugar molecule called galactose-α-1,3-galactose (alpha-gal), found in mammal products like:

* Beef
* Pork
* Lamb
* Venison
* Dairy (in some cases)

👉 It’s most often linked to bites from the Lone Star tick.

🧬 What makes it different?

Unlike most food allergies…
this one is delayed.

Symptoms typically show up 3–6 hours after eating, which makes it confusing and often misdiagnosed.

⚠️ Common Symptoms

Digestive:

* Nausea
* Diarrhea
* Stomach cramping
* Vomiting

Skin:

* Hives
* Itching
* Swelling

Systemic:

* Fatigue
* Dizziness
* Shortness of breath
* Drop in blood pressure
