Oh, what a nice season of yoga! Thank you ALL for joining me this school year. See you in September for more yoga, but do your daily down dogs and planks! 5-10 breaths each in strong posture. :)

We attempted bound angle and Bird of Paradise this week. Fun to try something maybe more challenging now and then. :)

Is it difficult for you to fold forward either standing or seated? That's pretty common to feel tightness at the back legs--hamstrings and calves. Like in the first photo, we stretch and lengthen those muscles in our yoga classes and strive to bring more balance to our bodies and muscles therein. What assists us in all this, is the breath; it is the essence of yoga. Next class is Monday, April 17, at 7 p.m. Come join us for yoga--good for the body, good for the mind.

Do you ever lie down and just r.e.l.a.x. without sleeping? And just let your body be super heavy and supported by the floor? This crew does it quite well, but for some people, it's actually not so easy. But in our yoga classes, we bring calm to the mind and body both at the beginning and end of class. Come try! Do you feel bloated at all, or are holding on to fluids in your body's cells? This can cause weight gain. But yoga helps with this! Yoga helps to move our lymphatic system, which has no pump. WE need to pump it with deep breathing, movement (like many yoga poses), jumping on a tramp, and more. Here's a chart from Artofit.org that shows some simple yoga poses, which combined with breathing like the Ocean Breath, will move the lymphatic system. Come give it a try! We'll meet again next Monday, April 13, at 7 p.m. Find us in the multi-purpose room of Calumet school ( use main public library entrance; take immediate left). It's yoga good for the mind, good for the body. :)
