Not every childhood illness is as familiar as the flu or a common cold.

During the summer and back-to-school season, parents may encounter lesser-known pediatric conditions like impetigo, fifth disease, hand, foot, and mouth disease, and coxsackievirus infections. While these illnesses are often common among children, they can cause uncomfortable symptoms and may require medical evaluation.

Keep an eye out for signs such as:
🩹 Unusual rashes or skin sores
🌡️ Fever
😷 Sore throat
👋 Painful blisters on the hands, feet, or inside the mouth
😴 Fatigue or general discomfort

If your child develops symptoms that have you concerned, AFC is here to help with convenient walk-in care for children and families. Our team can evaluate symptoms, provide treatment recommendations, and help your child get back to feeling their best.

Because when it comes to your child's health, peace of mind matters. ❤️

Back-to-school season means more time in classrooms, on sports teams, and for many families, lingering days at the pool. Unfortunately, it can also mean an increase in ear infections.👂

Whether it's a middle ear infection that follows a cold or flu-like illness, or swimmer's ear caused by trapped moisture in the ear canal, ear pain can quickly disrupt your child's school, sleep, and activities.

Common signs to watch for include:
👂 Ear pain or discomfort
🤒 Fever
😣 Irritability or trouble sleeping
🔊 Difficulty hearing
🏊 Pain that worsens when the outer ear is touched

If your child develops ear pain or other concerning symptoms, AFC is here to help with convenient walk-in care 7 days a week. Our team can evaluate ear infections, provide treatment recommendations, and help your child get back to learning, playing, and enjoying the school year.

Is your back-to-school checklist complete? 📚✏️

Between shopping for supplies, preparing lunches, and getting back into a routine, it's easy to overlook a few important health-related tasks before the first day of school.

As you prepare for a successful school year, don't forget to:
Schedule school or sports physicals early
Review immunization records and required health forms
Update any medication or action plans needed for school
Pack a simple health kit for your child's backpack

School physicals are a great opportunity to review your child's overall health, discuss nutrition and physical activity, address concerns such as allergies or asthma, and help ensure they're ready for the classroom, the field, or the stage.

AFC is here to help with convenient walk-in care, school physicals, sports physicals, and more to help your child start the school year healthy, confident, and ready to learn.

Here's to a great school year ahead! 🍎

Cyclosporiasis is a foodborne illness caused by the microscopic parasite Cyclospora. Health officials are investigating cases in multiple states, with fresh produce remaining a suspected source in some illnesses. 🥗

Common symptoms may include:
Watery diarrhea
Nausea
Stomach cramps and bloating
Fatigue
Low-grade fever

Symptoms often don't appear until about one week after exposure, and without treatment, they can last for several weeks or even come and go over time.

To help reduce your risk:
Wash your hands before preparing food
Rinse fresh fruits and vegetables under running water
Refrigerate perishable foods promptly
Follow safe food handling practices

If you're experiencing persistent diarrhea, dehydration, or other concerning gastrointestinal symptoms, AFC is here to help. Our medical team can evaluate your symptoms, recommend appropriate testing when needed, and help determine the right treatment plan.
