Today, we had the privilege of celebrating 120 years of Campbellsville University—and 120 years of God’s faithfulness. ❤️

When you grow up here, it can be easy to overlook the extraordinary impact right in front of us. Campbellsville University is far more than a university in our hometown. It is a Christ-centered institution whose influence reaches throughout our community, across Kentucky and the nation, and around the world—sharing the Gospel through education, leadership, and service.

At Hometown Health System, our mission is deeply connected to that same foundation: using the platform God has given us to serve others, remove barriers, empower people, and build stronger communities.

Today, four Campbellsville University presidents were honored for the legacies they have helped build: current President Dr. Joseph Hopkins and former presidents Dr. Michael V. Carter, Dr. H. Keith Spears, and Dr. Kenneth W. Winters. At 92 years old, Dr. Winters shared a special video message expressing his heart for this community, the university, and everything it continues to represent.

We were also honored to hear from Kentucky Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman, who received the Leadership Medal of Honor. An educator, former high school teacher and basketball coach, fifth-generation Mercer Countian, and advocate for education and mental health access, she represents the strength of Kentucky’s rural, farming, and small-business families. She also serves as an adjunct professor at CU while pursuing her doctorate in educational leadership at the University of Kentucky.

Her story was a powerful reminder that where we come from does not limit where God can use us. Whether our platform begins on a farm, in a classroom, on a basketball court, inside a small business, or in a small Kentucky hometown, we can use it to face adversity, open doors, and serve and empower others.

Congratulations to Campbellsville University on 120 years of transforming lives. May its next chapter continue carrying the Gospel and the heart of our hometown into communities around the world.

To God be the glory for the things He has done—and for everything still to come. 🙏

He spent roughly a quarter of his adult life incarcerated. Today, he uses those same years to help other people believe their lives are worth rebuilding.

Meet Germaine.

Germaine grew up surrounded by love, with a mother who taught him right from wrong and raised him to know the Lord. But by eleven years old, he was already experimenting with alcohol. By junior high, crack co***ne had entered his life. By high school, alcohol and drugs were taking more and more from him.

A promising future in football disappeared.

Then came addiction.
A robbery.
Incarceration.
Violence.
Homelessness.
Isolation.

For nearly 30 years, one decision seemed to lead to another until Germaine says he eventually became a product of his own choices.

But God was not finished with his story.

In 2017, homeless and exhausted by the life he was living, Germaine reached a place of surrender. An intervention led him to Isaiah House—and that decision changed everything.

He graduated from the program in 2018.

Then he did something the younger version of himself could never have imagined.

He went to college.

Germaine graduated from Campbellsville University with honors in Art and Design, made the Dean’s List, and went on to receive international recognition for his artwork.

Years earlier, while homeless, he would walk into art galleries simply because they gave him somewhere to dream for a few minutes.

One day, he became the artist.

And the story gets even better.

The man whose life had once been shaped by addiction, incarceration and homelessness now stands beside people walking through some of those exact same circumstances.

Today, Germaine is part of our Hometown family, using his lived experience, his creativity, his faith and his compassion to remind others that their worst chapter does not have to become their final one.

Germaine says:

“I don’t share my story because I’m proud of the mistakes I made. I share it because I’ve seen redemption.”

That is what lived experience can do.

It can turn judgment into empathy.
Pain into purpose.
A prison number into a testimony.
Homelessness into compassion.
Broken pieces into something beautiful.

At Hometown, we believe some of the people best equipped to reach the hardest-to-reach are the people who once needed someone to reach for them.

Germaine’s past does not define him.

But God has certainly used it to prepare him.

And somewhere today, there is another person who feels like their life has gone too far off course to ever become something meaningful.

Germaine is proof that it hasn’t.

Your story is not over.

There is still purpose.
There is still hope.
There is still redemption.

And sometimes the very place you thought would destroy you becomes the place from which God builds your greatest testimony. ❤️

Over the years, we have watched God move in incredible ways through the people who make up Hometown Health System—and sometimes, that journey leads straight to the water.

Meet Jim Christie, our Executive Sales Director.

Jim’s role may be rooted in relationships, growth, and connecting communities to care, but his heart goes much deeper. He is passionate about bridging hope and healing for people who feel lost, broken, forgotten, or simply in need of someone willing to stand beside them.

These photos represent more than a moment. They represent transformation, faith, community, and the reminder that the work we do is ultimately about people.

At Hometown, we believe building healthier communities means caring for the whole person, strengthening families, restoring hope, and investing in the hometowns we love so they remain places where future generations can live, work, worship, raise their families, and thrive.

💙 FROM HOMETOWN IMPACT TO KENTUCKY IMPACT 💙

We are incredibly grateful to have served as the August sponsor for the Campbellsville/Taylor County Chamber of Commerce luncheon and to have had the opportunity to share not only where Hometown Health System is today—but the much bigger vision behind where we are going.

At Hometown, we believe healthcare cannot exist in a silo.

A prescription alone doesn’t solve transportation.
A clinic visit alone doesn’t create employment.
Treatment alone doesn’t guarantee long-term recovery.
And none of these systems can succeed without stable families, strong employers, and healthy communities.

That is why we are intentionally building an ecosystem of care that connects healthcare, pharmacy, behavioral health, substance use recovery, social support, workforce development, education, and community partnerships.

Our goal is bigger than expanding healthcare services.
