The Ontario County Sheriff's Office is excited to introduce the newest member of our K-9 Unit... Obi!
At just 8 weeks old, Obi may be small now, but he's already beginning the journey toward becoming a valuable member of our team.
Why the name Obi? It's a nod to the iconic Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobiโbecause this future K-9 was selected on May 4th, better known to Star Wars fans as "May the Fourth Be With You" and we couldn't think of a more fitting name for our newest recruit!
Obi has been paired with K-9 Handler Deputy Pat Fitzgerald, who brings more than 27 years of service to Ontario County, including 22 years on Road Patrol. Deputy Fitzgerald recently retired his longtime K-9 partner, Sandy, and is looking forward to beginning this next chapter with Obi.
While he has plenty to learn before he officially hits the road, every exceptional K-9 starts exactly where Obi is todayโwith curiosity, dedication, and a whole lot of heart. Please join us in welcoming Obi to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office family!
