Different child. Different needs. Different family. Different goals.Same recommendation: 40 HOURS.
ABA should be individualized-not copy, paste, submit.

2. COMPLIANCE OVER ENGAGEMENT
The goal should never just be to create a child who sits quietly, follows every direction, and says
“yes” to adults. Are they engaged? Are they learning? Are they communicating? Do they feel safe enough to say “no” or ask for a break?
Compliance = Progress.

3. FORCING EYE CONTACT

“Look at me when I’m talking to you!”
Plot twist: A child does not need to stare into someone’s eyes to prove they’re listening.
We can teach attending and social communication without forcing uncomfortable eye contact.

We just want to keep showing what ABA can look like when every child is treated as an individual. Following their lead, respecting assent, building on what motivates them, and making therapy something they actually enjoy. There are so many amazing stories to tell, and we’re excited to keep advocating for compassionate, play based, individualized ABA every step of the way.
