📢 Important Update to Our Payment & Attendance Policies from Laura. Hello. It’s me🙂. As we have gone from a staff of 1 to a staff of 11, I am now having to be a bit more authoritative. Bear with me now.
We are facing so many challenges with upcoming code changes impacting speech services in 2027 (more to come on this on how you can help!). As we continue to advocate with our national and state agencies- we are becoming more firm in enforcing our policies. We anticipate that the first of the year will bring many delays in services including authorizations and payments from insurance, as well as limitations of insurances not covering needed services. We will continue to fight against this and work with our families.
Our current patients were notified in August and will be receiving updated policy packets in the next few weeks.
As a small business, we are incredibly grateful for every patient who chooses and trusts us for their care. We truly love what we do and have been SO excited with the growth we have experienced. To continue providing quality, reliable services, we must also ensure that our payment and attendance policies are followed consistently.
Effective immediately, a payment on any outstanding account must be made before services will be performed. Any outstanding accounts over 60 days old will be subjected to the next step as outlined in our payment policy. Patients will also be expected to adhere to our established attendance, cancellation, and no-show policies.
We understand that life happens, and we always want to treat our patients with understanding and respect. At the same time, a small business depends on timely payment and consistent attendance in order to remain sustainable. We also must meet requirements to show medical necessity including progress in sessions which requires attendance. People tend to forget that we are governed by medical and insurance regulations and we must meet those as medical service providers. If you frequently no-call and no show, you will lose your scheduled spot and be moved to flex scheduling or discharged.
Most of us would not go to work each day with the expectation that our employer may or may not pay us for the work we’ve completed. Small businesses are no different. Our time, services, staff, and operating expenses all have real costs, and timely payment allows us to continue showing up and providing the level of care our patients deserve.
Going forward, we kindly ask that all patients respect these policies (and if you have an issue, please speak with me and don’t take it out on our front desk staff). Services cannot be provided without payment being made according to our payment policy, and attendance policies will be consistently enforced.
We truly appreciate everyone who respects our time, our policies, and our small business. Your support allows us to continue doing what we love. We are so proud of our growth and are continually expanding our knowledge and services to better serve our community. 🖤
