🐝 Being Excellent Every Day: Congratulations to BEE Award recipient Beth Hunt, CMA! 🐝

For one patient facing a difficult chapter in life, Beth Hunt, CMA, at SIH Primary Care Harrisburg became much more than a caregiver. She became a source of comfort, encouragement and hope when it was needed most.

When Mary Boehler, Medical-surgical Nurse at SIH St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, isn’t caring for patients, you might find her hitting the trails or helping protect some of Southern Illinois’ most unique wildlife!

Mary leads free guided hikes at Giant City State Park, helping others discover the beauty of Southern Illinois while challenging themselves along the way. She also volunteers as a Snake Road Sentinel with the Shawnee National Forest, answering visitors’ questions and collecting data that helps protect local wildlife.

And she’s definitely putting in the miles. This year, Mary was recognized for having the most cumulative volunteer hours in the Sentinel program!

“We are community members who love and enjoy all the area offers just as much as our patients. So many of us strive to serve the community not just when we are at work, but by volunteering on our days off as well.”

It's hard to imagine SIH Prairie Cardiovascular without Dr. Cesar Coello. We're honored to celebrate his retirement and the legacy he leaves behind.

From performing the first cardiac caths to establishing chest pain centers, creating a network of heart attack-ready hospitals, building a successful heart surgery program and advancing high-tech, minimally invasive treatments, Dr. Coello has been a leader every step of the way as we built this comprehensive heart program at SIH.

Most of all, he's been part of so many lives changed and saved across Southern Illinois.

Thank you, Dr. Coello, for your 27 years of service and dedication to our communities.
