Horse peopleā¦.. check in!!
Have you ever wondered if a hoof issue is really a hoof issue?
I recently read an interesting perspective that suggests some foot and lower limb problems may actually start higher up in the chain. The idea is that a horseās brain, balance system, jaw, teeth, and overall posture all work together to tell the body where it is in space.
When that system isnāt functioning optimally, the horse may compensate by shifting weight, shortening strides, landing harder, or loading one limb more than another. Over time, those compensation patterns can contribute to stress on joints, tendons, ligaments, and even the hoof itself.
Whether you agree with every aspect of the theory or not, it reinforces something I see often: the body works as a connected system.
Thatās why when I work with horses using PEMF and Red Light Therapy, Iām not just looking at the sore spot. Iām looking at the whole horse. How are they moving? Where are they compensating? What areas may be working harder than they should?
Sometimes the place showing the problem isnāt where the problem started.
Looking at the bigger picture can help us better support comfort, recovery, performance, and long-term wellness.
What are your thoughts? Have you seen a horse improve when you addressed more than just the obvious symptom? š“āØ
