One of the most meaningful parts of ADHD coaching is getting to walk alongside people through real life.

Not just productivity and not just routines.

I started working with Matt shortly after his ADHD diagnosis,
And over the years, we’ve navigated some huge transitions together.

Selling a business.
Relationships ending and beginning.
Rebuilding identity.
Relearning trust in himself.

Coaching is rarely about having all the answers.

A lot of the time, it’s about helping someone slow things down enough to actually hear themselves again beneath the overwhelm, the pressure, and the noise.

Matt has done that work.

He’s shown up for himself over and over again, even in really difficult seasons. And one of the biggest privileges as a coach is getting to reflect back someone’s growth when they can’t fully see it themselves yet.

The work is not fixing people.
It's to help people understand how they work, build trust with themselves again, and create a life that feels more aligned with who they actually are.

When everything stays stuck in your head, it’s almost impossible to be intentional with your time, energy, and actions.

The first step is getting honest.
Get it out of your brain.
Onto paper.
Talk it through with someone.
Create enough clarity to stop reacting and start moving with purpose.

And for many people with ADHD, having the right support can make all the difference.
An ADHD coach helps you organize your thoughts, create practical strategies, stay accountable, and turn overwhelm into action.

You don’t need to figure it all out alone.
You just need someone who can help you see the path forward more clearly.

If you’re ready to stop spinning your wheels and start moving with intention, book a discovery call with me today. Link in bio.

The ADHD brain is deeply curious.

That can be a superpower.
And it can also become a trap.

Curiosity can lead you toward creativity, connection, new ideas, and exciting directions in life.

But it can also pull you into endless loops of:

overthinking
self-criticism
replaying mistakes
worrying about the future
questioning your worth

The brain doesn’t really care what it’s focused on.
It cares that it’s stimulated.

Part of ADHD coaching is learning how to guide that curiosity instead of being dragged around by it.

Instead of:
“Why am I like this?”

Maybe the question becomes:
“What would happen if I stayed with this a little longer?”
“What would happen if I took one small step?”
“What could be possible here?”

I’m collecting questions for our Coast News column on ADHD and executive function.

If there’s something you’ve struggled with or always wondered about ADHD, send me a message or drop a comment. I will answer it anonymously in our future column.

A lot of people with ADHD grew up believing they were inconsistent, lazy, careless, or broken.

Most of the time, they were unsupported.

There’s a huge difference.

The goal isn’t to force yourself into someone else’s operating system. The goal is to understand your brain well enough to build a life that works with it instead of against it.

You’re trying to operate in a system that rewards a very specific way of thinking
and punishes everything outside of it.

Especially with ADHD, your brain isn’t built for repetition and forced focus.
It’s built for interest, urgency, and momentum.

So the goal isn’t to fix yourself.

It’s to understand how you actually work
and build a structure that supports that.

That’s where things start to change.

If this resonates and you’re tired of spinning your wheels,
book a discovery call with me.

We’ll break down what’s actually getting in your way
and what to do about it.

Most of us were trained the same way.

Sit down.
Be quiet.
Follow the instructions.
Repeat the information.

And if your brain didn’t work like that… it wasn’t seen as a difference.
It was seen as a problem.

So you start getting feedback early.
“You’re distracted.”
“You’re not applying yourself.”
“You’re not living up to your potential.”

Over time, that noise adds up.

And you adapt.

You either:
– shrink and stay quiet
– hide the parts of you that don’t fit
– or push back and get labeled as difficult

But underneath all of that, something important is happening.

You’re trying to operate in a system that was never designed for how your brain works.

Especially with ADHD, the challenge isn’t a lack of intelligence, creativity, or effort.

It’s that the system rewards:
consistency, linear thinking, repetition, and sustained focus on things that don’t always feel meaningful.

And your brain is wired for:
interest, urgency, novelty, and connection.

That mismatch creates friction.

And if you don’t understand it, you turn that friction inward.

“What’s wrong with me?”

Nothing.

The shift is this:
stop measuring yourself against a system that doesn’t fit
and start understanding how your brain actually works

Because when you do that, you can build structure, support, and strategies that work with you… not against you.
