The Caroline Symmes Children's Cancer Endowment

The Caroline Symmes Endowment at Riley was created in loving memory of our daughter to ensure that all children stand a fighting chance against cancer.

Caroline Symmes was 5 years old when cancer ended her life. Out of her tragedy, this foundation was born to fund research and inspire hope in future pediatric patients and their families. Caroline Symmes was three years old when she was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor Disease. As the most curable type of kidney cancer in adults and children, Wilms Tumor has a 90% survival rate. But Caroline had a very

aggressive tumor, and with so little in the way of research for pediatric cancers, her physicians quickly exhausted their options to treat the disease. She never cried or complained. With an old soul and a big smile, she lived her life to its fullest. Caroline lost her future not because of a lack of care or resources, but because of a lack of funding for pediatric cancer research. The Caroline Symmes Endowment for Pediatric Cancer Research at Riley Hospital for Children is the gift she leaves behind, so every child with cancer can live with hope for a bright future of their own.

ConGRADulations to our incredible graduating seniors from our Teen Board! 🎉🎓 We can't thank them enough for their hard work this year. Since jumping in last fall, they helped raise $85,979 for pediatric cancer research! 🎗️🩷 We are so proud of your achievements and wish you all the best in this next chapter!

Applications for our 2025-26 Teen Board are officially open! 🎉 We are looking for creative, motivated students, rising sophomores, juniors and seniors, to join our Teen Board. This group will meet monthly (September – April) to discuss, brainstorm and initiate various ways to fundraise for the endowment.

This is an incredible opportunity for teens interested in philanthropy, non-profit organizations, or anyone looking to make an impact in their community and pediatric cancer research. 🎗️
