The Here and Now Project is an amazing organization that provides support, connection and uplifts people affected by paralysis.

I have the honor of joining their annual Resource Expo at the Tukwila Community Center this Sunday, May 31, from 1-5 pm!

There's still time to register - Saturday is the Peer Connection Summit for survivors and their supporters. Sunday's Resource Expo is open to everyone and will have many adaptive recreational opportunities to check out!

Come on out and stop by our booth to say hi!

As a recreational therapist, Iโ€™ve spent a lot of time problem solving accessible transportation options for my patients and clients over the years. United Access is one of the many companies that help people get out and live their lives.
Reach out for other ways recreational therapy and Adaptive Pathways can help you.

May is , and we're taking a moment to shout out one of our favorite partners, United Access!

United Access helps people find the right wheelchair accessible vehicle for their life. They offer a wide range of new and used options, rear- and side-entry vans, driving aids and more, all backed by Mobility Specialists who actually take the time to get to know you and your needs.

Their motto is "Go Forward. Together." We love that. It's exactly how we think about community here too.

Thank you United Access for being part of the Here and Now family.

This is great to see such an important partnership. Keep up the great accessibility work, Outdoors for All Foundation & City of Issaquah - Government!

The City of Issaquah, in partnership with a Gibson Ek Capstone Project, is working to make local trails more accessible and enjoyable for seniors and people with disabilities, and we want to hear from you!

Your feedback will help shape future trail standards, park improvements, and community connections. Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts by completing the survey at the link below. Together, we can create outdoor spaces that are welcoming for everyone. ๐Ÿ’š

Helpful information when looking at accessibility in dentist offices.

Helpful information when looking at accessibility in dentist offices.

How do you know if a dental office is actually accessible? What should you ask before booking an appointment?

In our latest blog, SCI BC's InfoLine Services Lead Heather Lamb breaks down what to look for, what to ask, and how to advocate for care that actually works for you. Read the full article at https://sci-bc.ca/ask-infoline-accessible-dentist/

Here's our peer-approved list of questions to ask your dental office:
Do you have accessible parking?
Is there a level access route from the accessible parking (or closest transit stop) into your building?
Do you have an accessible washroom?
Is there sufficient space beside the dental chair for me to transfer into it from my wheelchair?
Can your staff assist with my transfer?
Do you have a pillow or props to assist me to sit comfortably or safely in your chair
Can I remain in my own wheelchair during the appointment?
Are your staff trained to work with wheelchair users?

What else would you add to the list? Let us know in the comments!
