I don’t think about how what I do affects people.

A new client on a busy Friday afternoon, I’m picking ‘em up and putting’em down , I think I’m doing a basic root color, couple highlights, haircut and style.

What I didn’t know is that she has hair ptsd, it’s a thing. An unaware stylist that messed up color on fragile hair, the correction toasted the hair. She let it grow out a long time, too scared to get it done again. She remembers someone who did her hair over 5 years ago, and gets an appointment.

I survey the damage, and promised to get her hair healthy again, and make it look good for an upcoming family function in which she NEEDED to look presentable.

What I wasn’t ready for was her reaction when I turned her toward the mirror, seeing for the first time the results of the last couple hours of work.
Tears of joy and gratitude streaming down her face, in gratitude and relief, restoring her confidence that she could look beautiful again in her golden years.

I love my job, I pray each day for God to use my skills and talents to bless others as I did Friday morning. God brought her to me, not just for her hair, but for her spirit to be restored.
I thank God for her, and all my clients, and how we all impact each others lives.
That’s what we’re here for.
