Missed a monthly health insurance premium? Don’t panic: you’re not the first, and there’s usually time to get back on track.

Marketplace plans typically offer a grace period of around 30 days. If you receive premium tax credits and have already paid at least one month’s premium, that grace period may extend up to 90 days.

You should receive notices from your insurance company with the amount due, your payment deadline, and what may happen if the balance isn’t paid. Read those notices carefully and contact your insurer or insurance advisor as soon as possible.

During a grace period, coverage may continue, but claims could be delayed or affected if the account is eventually terminated. If coverage lapses, you may have to wait until Open Enrollment to get new coverage.

The sooner you act, the more options you may have. Have questions about your notice or payment options? We’re happy to help keep insurance SIMPLE. 📩

If you turned 65 this year and enrolled in Medicare Part B, do you know when your six-month Medigap Open Enrollment Period began?

It generally starts the first month you’re 65 or older and have Part B. During that window, insurers can’t deny you a Medigap policy or charge more because of pre-existing health conditions. After it ends, you may face medical underwriting, higher premiums, or denial, depending on your situation and state rules.

With Medicare Advantage plan changes or exits this season, you may be considering Medigap, but a plan change doesn’t automatically guarantee you can get it.

December 7 is the Medicare Open Enrollment deadline and a good time to review your coverage. It doesn’t extend your Medigap window, so check your dates now.

Need care from home? Telehealth may be a convenient option for minor illnesses, follow-up visits, prescription refills, and many mental health appointments.

Under a Marketplace plan, a virtual visit may cost nothing or come with a low copay, but there’s no one-size-fits-all price. Your cost can differ depending on whether you use a phone visit, video visit, or see a provider in person. Your deductible, copay, and plan network may also matter.

The best way to avoid guessing? Check your plan’s telehealth benefit or member portal before scheduling. Not sure what your plan covers? We’re happy to help keep insurance SIMPLE. 📩

January 1 can bring a fresh start for your health plan, and a fresh deductible, too.

Here’s the K.I.S.S. version:

Your deductible is the amount you pay for covered care before your plan starts sharing more of the cost. Your out-of-pocket maximum is the most you’ll typically pay for covered, in-network care during the plan year.

For many plans, both amounts reset on January 1. That means what you’ve paid toward those totals may start over.

Before December ends, consider:
✔️ Scheduling care you’ve been putting off
✔️ Refilling prescriptions
✔️ Using remaining benefits, if included in your plan
✔️ Checking how close you are to your deductible or out-of-pocket maximum

Don’t schedule care you don’t need, but if something is already on your list, December may be a good time to review your options.

Not sure what resets on your plan? Reach out anytime. We’re happy to help keep health insurance SIMPLE.

Turning 65 soon? Medicare enrollment isn’t only about the fall Open Enrollment period. Your first opportunity is usually your 7-month Initial Enrollment Period. ✅

It includes:
• 3 months before your 65th birthday month
• Your birthday month
• 3 months after your birthday month

This applies to you, and to the adult kids helping a parent plan ahead. Getting familiar with the timeline early can help avoid confusion and make it easier to review your options.

Still working or covered through a spouse’s employer plan? Your timing may be different, so it’s a good idea to ask questions before making a decision.

Not sure what all those numbers and abbreviations on your insurance card mean? Let’s keep it simple. 👇

Here are the 5 things that actually matter:

1. Plan type: HMO, PPO, EPO, or another type of plan.

2. Member ID: Your unique number for check-ins, claims, and plan questions.

3. Copays: What you may pay for certain services, such as a doctor visit or prescription.

4. Rx BIN: A number your pharmacy may use to process prescriptions.

5. Network: The doctors, hospitals, and providers included in your plan.

Keep your card handy, and always check your plan details or call ahead if you’re unsure about coverage.

That’s the K.I.S.S. way: Keep Insurance Shockingly Simple. Have questions about your plan? We’re happy to help!

A low monthly premium doesn’t always mean a dental plan is the best fit. When comparing standalone dental plans, look at these two details:

🗓️ Waiting periods: Some plans make you wait before certain services are covered. Make sure you know when coverage begins for preventive, basic, and major services.

💳 Annual maximums: This is the most the plan will pay toward covered care each year. A lower premium may come with a lower annual maximum, which could matter if you need more extensive treatment.

Also compare deductibles, covered services, provider networks, and preventive-care benefits, not just the monthly price.

Regular cleanings may help catch small issues before they become bigger, more expensive problems. Taking care of your smile can protect your health and your long-term budget, too.

Insurance doesn’t have to be confusing. Our K.I.S.S. approach helps make comparing your options SIMPLE. Reach out anytime: we’re happy to help!
