Your pre-retirement checklist:

✅ Review your investment risk
✅ Build a retirement income strategy
✅ Review old 401(k) accounts
✅ Decide when to claim Social Security
✅ Plan for required minimum distributions (RMDs)
✅ Get ready for Medicare
✅ Compare your Medicare coverage options

Retirement brings several financial decisions together at once. Reviewing these areas before you leave the workforce gives you more time to make informed choices based on your needs and circumstances.

Ready to walk through your checklist? Let's schedule time to build your retirement plan!

If someone calls and already knows your name, your age, and your address, that does not make them legitimate. Criminals often start with information they already have and only need one more piece from you.

Medicare-related scam calls have climbed sharply over the past year. Some people report getting dozens in a single day. The pitches are predictable once you know them. Your card is expiring. You qualify for unclaimed benefits. A free brace or hearing aid is on the way.

They all want the same thing: your Medicare number.

A few things to remember: Medicare generally contacts you by mail first and does not call to ask for your Medicare number or bank information. A real licensed agent will give you their name and license number without hesitation, and will not push you to decide today.

If someone claims to be from an agency, hang up and call that agency's main number yourself. Anyone honest will not mind.

What is the strangest scam call you have received? Share it below so your neighbors know what to listen for.

Quick question: do you know if your insurance plan includes vision coverage? 👀 Many people don't realize vision insurance is often one of the most affordable add-ons available — and it's easy to overlook when you're focused on the bigger stuff like health or life insurance.

Vision coverage typically helps with the cost of eye exams, glasses, and contacts, making it easier to keep up with routine eye care. And routine eye care matters more than most people think — regular exams aren't just about your glasses or contacts prescription. They're a simple way to stay on top of your overall eye health too.

If it's been a while since you checked whether vision insurance is part of your coverage (or if you have it at all!), now's a great time to take a look.

Do you currently have vision insurance? We're happy to help you figure out what's available to you.

📬 Keep an eye on your mailbox this September! If you have a Medicare Advantage or Part D prescription drug plan, you should be receiving your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) letter by September 30th. This letter explains what's changing with your plan starting January 1st — things like your premium, deductible, drug coverage, which doctors or pharmacies are in network, and how benefit coverage is changing.

It's easy to set this letter aside, but taking a few minutes to read through it can save you from surprises come the new year. And if something in your ANOC catches your attention, remember that Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15th through December 7th, giving you time to compare plans and make a change if you need to.

If you have questions about what your ANOC means for you, we're always happy to help walk through it with us and discuss plan options starting October 1. Send us a message or give us a call!

With so much information online, you might wonder: do I really need an insurance agent? 🤷 Here's the thing — a licensed agent brings something no search engine can: personalized guidance based on YOUR life, your health, your budget, and your goals. We take the time to compare options across multiple carriers so you're not stuck guessing which plan is actually the best fit.

And it doesn't stop once your policy is in place! If you ever need to file a claim, having someone in your corner who understands the process makes a stressful situation so much easier. Plus, life changes — new jobs, growing families, moves, retirement — and we're here to revisit your coverage along the way so it keeps up with you.

If you're wondering whether your current coverage still fits your life, let's talk.

A great week in Charlotte, NC at the Top Producer Summit! We’re so thankful to MESSER Financial Group for hosting us so well and for the opportunity to connect with fellow agents, agencies, and carrier partners as we prepare for the 2027 AEP/OEP season ahead.
A highlight was hearing Michael Waltrip share his powerful story and testimony of God’s faithfulness through both triumph and loss.
We came home encouraged, grateful, and ready for the season ahead. Thank you, Messer, for an incredible week!

Hoping to be expecting soon? Here's something many growing families don't think about until it's too late: supplemental insurance coverage can help offset income loss and out-of-pocket costs around childbirth.

Short-term disability can help replace a portion of your income during the time you're recovering and unable to work, while hospital indemnity coverage can help with costs related to a hospital stay for delivery. Together, they can ease some of the financial pressure during an already big life transition.

Here's the thing: these plans generally need to be in place BEFORE conception, so timing matters. If growing your family is on your radar for the future, NOW is a great time to look into your options.

If you have questions — we can help you understand your options.
