π§ Drinking enough water this summer? It might matter more than you think.
Dehydration doesn't just make you feel tired β it can directly affect how your medications work in your body.
A few examples:
πΈ Blood pressure medications can drop your BP too low if you're dehydrated
πΈ Diuretics ("water pills") increase your need for fluids
πΈ NSAIDs (like ibuprofen) can stress your kidneys if you're not drinking enough
πΈ Some diabetes meds work less effectively when you're dehydrated
πΈ Lithium levels can rise dangerously with dehydration
A good rule of thumb: aim for half your body weight in ounces of water per day β more if you're outside or active.
If you're not sure how your medications interact with summer heat and hydration, ask us. It's literally what we're here for. π
