September is Baby Safety Month, and MainStreet is dedicated to providing quality healthcare for people of all ages.

Here are a few tips and guidelines for safe practices for young children:

- Check your baby’s sleep space for blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, toys, or loose items

- Make sure your baby’s car seat matches their current height and weight

- Review car seat straps, chest clip placement, and installation

- Cut foods into safe sizes based on your child’s age and chewing ability

- Keep small objects, coins, batteries, magnets, and tiny toy pieces out of reach

- Stay within arm’s reach during baths and around water

- Empty buckets, tubs, and kiddie pools right after use

- Watch for new risks when your baby starts rolling, crawling, pulling up, or walking

- Ask caregivers, grandparents, and babysitters to follow the same safety routines

🥗 Feeling Sick After Eating Fresh Produce? It Could Be More Than a Stomach Bug. Cyclosporiasis is a foodborne illness linked to contaminated fresh produce like berries, leafy greens, cilantro, and basil. Symptoms usually appear about 1 week after exposure and may include:

✔️ Watery diarrhea
✔️ Stomach cramps and bloating
✔️ Nausea or loss of appetite
✔️ Fatigue
✔️ Low-grade fever

Don't wait to get checked if you have:
💧 Diarrhea lasting more than 3 days
💧 Signs of dehydration (dizziness, dark urine, dry mouth, excessive thirst)
💧 A fever over 101.3°F
💧 Bloody diarrhea
💧 Persistent vomiting or inability to keep fluids down

Older adults, young children, pregnant patients, and anyone with a weakened immune system should seek care sooner.
