National AHEC Week comes to a close, but the impact continues.

As National AHEC Week ends, we want to thank the students, professionals, educators, partners, and AHEC leaders who helped highlight the AHEC network's impact across the country.

Throughout the week, we shared stories that show what happens when education, community partnerships, and opportunity come together.

From students discovering their path in healthcare to professionals strengthening their skills and serving communities across the country, AHECs help prepare and support the healthcare workforce.

While National AHEC Week may be ending, the work continues every day in communities nationwide.

Stay connected with the National AHEC Organization to continue learning about the people, programs, and partnerships strengthening the healthcare workforce nationwide.

If AHEC has shaped your training, career, or community, we’d love to hear your story.

National AHEC Week 2026 ⭐

As we continue our celebration, we’re proud to highlight one of our academic partners, UW-Platteville!

This year, we partnered with UW-Platteville to launch our first year of the Future PA program. Future PA supports students who are interested in becoming Physician Assistants and serving rural and underserved communities.

Through this program, students engage in:
- Academic preparation
- Clinical exposure through job shadowing
- Skills advancement trainings
- Mentorship and networking with current PA students, alumni, and practicing professionals
- Graduate program preparation (essay workshops, mock interviews, and more)

We’d like to give a special thank you to Rich Dhyanchand, Professor and the Biology Department Chair at UW-Platteville and current President of the Scenic Rivers AHEC Board. His leadership and support have been instrumental in growing these programs and creating meaningful opportunities for students.

We’re grateful for our partnership with UW-Platteville and excited to continue growing opportunities for future healthcare professionals!

National AHEC Week 2026 ⭐

Today we’re spotlighting our high school programming - Focus On: Health Careers! This program introduces students to a variety of healthcare careers and the pathways to pursue them. This year, we partnered with Arcadia High School and Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School to bring learning beyond the classroom, including a hospital visit with Tri-County Hospital and a public health session with the Trempealeau County Health Department. Students heard directly from hospital staff about careers in healthcare and learned about public health in action from the health department. Through these experiences, students gained valuable insight into the many opportunities within healthcare.
