Fire Cider for cold/flu season
Keep up on your healthy with natural alternatives
Ingredients
* 2 cups raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar
* ½ cup fresh ginger, sliced
* ½ cup fresh horseradish, grated
* ½ cup onion, chopped
* 8–10 cloves garlic, crushed
* 1–2 jalapeños or 1–3 dried cayenne peppers
* 1 lemon, sliced
* 1 orange, sliced
* 1–2 cinnamon sticks
* 1 tsp whole black peppercorns
* 1–2 tbsp fresh turmeric or 1 tsp turmeric powder
* 2–4 tbsp raw honey, added after straining
đź«™ How to Make It
1. Add all ingredients except the honey to a clean quart-size glass jar.
2. Pour in enough apple cider vinegar to completely cover everything.
3. Seal with a plastic lid, or put parchment paper between a metal lid and the vinegar to prevent corrosion.
4. Shake well.
5. Store somewhere cool and dark for 2–4 weeks, shaking the jar daily or whenever you remember. Lift the lid everyday to let the air out!
6. Strain through cheesecloth or a fine strainer, squeezing out as much liquid as possible.
7. Stir in honey to taste.
8. Store the finished fire cider in the refrigerator.
🌶️ How to Use It
Start with 1 teaspoon and see how you tolerate it.
For a Theraexpressions-style version, I’d make it a little more approachable: ginger + orange + lemon + turmeric + cinnamon + honey, with just enough cayenne for warmth rather than making it painfully hot.
One note: fire cider isn’t a proven treatment or immune-system cure, and the vinegar/peppers can irritate reflux or sensitive stomachs.
