Sometimes I come up with games on the fly based on what I see is restricted during the session.

The games always have a purpose of exercising the muscles I want to work on.

Keep it fun, keep it fresh.

I freaking love a Colorado park. Summer is the best in CO. Fight me on it.

Talk the talk, means I walk the walk.

Everytime a stranger asks if I'm a trainer I say yes! They say "You look it".

Hamstring rehab continues with block running. 5min run at 50%, then walk x 3 sets.

In between rest sets, I do isometric bridges to single leg bridges at 15seconds to 30 seconds.

Then : hamstring walks to tolerance
Then: single leg RDLs
Then : this nifty park hamstring roll out .

Just going to leave that here for everyone who has weakness getting up from a chair and has gut issues.

Thanks ICE for the handout.

I have been doing a lot of nutrition education to my new clients. It comes into my field. No fuel for the tank equals no tolerance for the training

I once had to work with a cancer patient in the hospital who could barely stand with me, but wanted to go home. I asked her husband how much food she eats in a day. He looked pitiful when he had to answer " not enough".

I asked the doc to do a calorie count on her. She was eating 500kcal in one day. That's muscle wasting territory just to be alive. We changed the plan for her immediately.

I make house calls. I see you at your gym. I even see you at the park for my impromptu evals from acquaintances.

I go to the hospital. I worked in hospitals and ICUs for most of my career. It's like my 2nd home when I walk through the doors .

This week I went consult on a client of mine who was admitted. I know how they move, What their home set up is like and how much support they have.

I was able to assess their discharge needs to optimize safety and help their loved ones make an educated decision with my knowledge background. These situations are very stressful and most of the time very rushed. Hospitals need the beds, so plans are happening ASAP.

When you work with me, I assist in any way possible..my clients know and trust me.

It was fun to see my old stomping grounds and coworkers for a quick trip.

Here are a few rehab exercises I'm doing for a mild Hamstring Strain.

Isometric hamstring exercises can help with pain and tendon health:

Bridge holds or even single leg bridge holds for 30 seconds x 3

Active contractions with movement will let you know your range of motion limits like the Assisted Single Leg RDL.

Hamstring glides feel oh so good and bad at the same time.

I'm still working out with squats and lifts , just modifying if I feel any pain. The worst thing to do is just stretch and foam roll, hoping it will magically get better.

You need to rehab the tissue with correct loading to get back into high intensity exercises without fear of re- injuring it. Hope this helps someone!

I'm just going to leave this here.

Athletes. Add this into your weekly workouts. They don't take long. They have huge benefits. Simple stuff. Big long term gains.

Anyone else get a good workout done for their Colorado snow day?

Kids should start basic strength training for the neuromuscular gains in overall joint stability and prevention of injury. If you have a one sport kid, look into training. We know the injury rates with sport specific athletes during those growth spurt years can lead to soft tissue & growth plate injuries without giving them different movement patterns.

Who wants a Tommy John surgery at 17? Nope. Big nope.

This is exactly what is wrong with insurance. Ugh. Disgusting hurdles from a system we pay into our whole life.

Bo Yennie suffered a spinal injury in a severe ski crash at Steamboat. He is currently in a nursing home where he receives physical and occupational therapy, but United has made it increasingly difficult, requiring reauthorization every two days.

I'm a S**t Talker and Mover.

It's a gift that gives. I worked in the ICU for a long time and I can make patients who have been bed bound and constipated crap the bed in 30min. No lie. With exercise.

The nurses couldn't stop thanking me for my skill. Don't worry I always help with cleanup!

Anyway. I see older adults in their homes for physical therapy or just plain personal training . They battle constipation constantly. Most of the time it is from sedentary behavior and poor diet. Generally speaking.

I do a food diary review of about 3 days to figure out their fiber and protein intake for any new client with feedback for their goals. Then we train the bowels.

👀Get up
💦Drink warm fluids , water preferably then whatever.
🚶Move. Take a walk. Do the exercises I prescribe.
I love body weight movements and Pilates/yoga style stretching and breath control for my personalized exercise programs.

💩
Then sit on the toilet. Use that squatty potty. Sit there and train your bowels to go.

Your welcome!
