Nutrition is directly linked to health and disease, but here's the thing: the impact of your diet might involve more than just stuffing your face with pizza or carefully planning your meals.
The order in which you eat your food could also play a role, because, why not? It's not like you need to dissect your next omelet or casserole like a science experiment, but when you've got the chance to take a bite of one food before another, it's worth considering the benefits.
Possible benefits of meal sequencing: basically, anything you put in your body affects how it functions, and many of those effects happen during the postprandial (fed) state, which is just a fancy way of saying 'after you eat.'
Your body spends a solid six hours or more in this state after each meal, so yeah, that's a big deal.
Experts want to figure out how to minimize the negative impacts during this state, and one possible way is by changing the order in which you eat your food.
Some research suggests that eating fiber, protein, and fats before consuming refined carbs (like sugar, white flour, and white rice) might offer some health benefits during the postprandial state, because who doesn't love a good health benefit?
