20 ways to support your partner while she’s healing from autoimmune symptoms:
1. Make a decision so she doesn’t have to. Tell her where you’re ordering dinner from and handle it.
2. Cook her something delicious with lots of vibrant colors.
3. Order her favorite takeout meal and pick it up.
4. Make her a tasty mocktail in a fancy glass.
5. Run her a bath with magnesium flakes and light a candle.
6. Give her a massage that lasts longer than 15 seconds and has no ulterior motives. 😛
7. Surprise her by booking a massage or spa treatment.
8. Take something off her plate without asking her to manage you through it.
9. Let her rest without making her feel lazy or guilty.
10. Say, “I believe you,” especially when her symptoms aren’t visible.
11. Ask, “Do you want comfort, ideas, or help fixing it?” before jumping into problem-solving mode.
12. Learn which foods and environments make her feel worse, and don’t make her defend them every time.
13. Keep one of her safe meals, snacks, or drinks stocked.
14. Fill her water bottle and bring it to her.
15. Change the sheets and make the bed extra cozy.
16. Offer to take a slow walk with her instead of pushing her to do more.
17. Handle bedtime, dishes, errands, or carpool when she’s having a flare.
18. Go with her to an appointment and help her remember what she wanted to ask.
19. Remind her that healing isn’t linear when she’s frustrated by a hard day.
20. Tell her she’s beautiful, strong, and still herself, even when she doesn’t feel like it.
She doesn’t need you to become her doctor. She needs to feel believed, cared for, and safe enough to exhale. 💛 Thank you to all of the amazing partners supporting their ladies on this crazy healing journey.
