This particular tree is very similar in terms of properties and appearance to acacia species, hence it’s botanica name of pseudo-acacia.
In a ritual incense either outdoors or on the ceremonial hearth, locust can bring purification along with slow, steady process in spellworking.
As you can see from the illustration, the spines on the branches and trunk of the Honey Locust tree can be quite formidable, with some as long as 6 inches or more. These are perfect in spell bottles when you want to protect yourself from frienimies (envious friends who work and speak against you.) Although some view the tree as a pest, it can be an excellent protector for your home keeping out trespassers every kind. The Honey Locust Spines also serve as natural “witch’s pins” and can pin down your magical intent. The ones shown here come from our own homestead.
While a branch of Black Locust can make an excellent wand, be aware that the seeds, bark and leaves can be toxic, so please handle them with care and keep them out of reach of children and pets.
