Liver Detox 101: Your Body’s Built-in Filtration System 🧬

Most people think “detox” means juice cleanses and expensive teas. Your liver laughs at that. It’s been running a two-phase biochemical operation since before you were born—no celery juice required.

Phase I (Cytochrome P450 pathway): Your liver’s first line of defense. It takes fat-soluble toxins—pesticides, pharmaceuticals, environmental chemicals—and runs them through oxidation, reduction, and hydrolysis reactions. The catch? This step often makes compounds more reactive and damaging than they started. It’s like taking a burglar’s weapon away but leaving him in your living room.

Phase II (Conjugation): The cleanup crew. Glucuronidation, sulfation, methylation, glutathione conjugation, acetylation—these pathways slap a water-soluble handle onto those Phase I metabolites so you can p**s or p**p them out. No Phase II, no actual elimination.

Here’s what most influencers won’t tell you: your Phase I can outrun Phase II. When that happens, those intermediate metabolites circulate and cause oxidative damage. This is why chugging “liver cleanses” that ramp up Phase I without supporting Phase II is like flooring the gas with no oil in the engine.

What actually supports both phases:

Cruciferous vegetables (sulforaphane activates Nrf2 pathway)
Adequate protein (amino acids are conjugation substrates—glycine, taurine, cysteine)
B vitamins (methylation cofactors)
Magnesium and zinc (enzymatic cofactors)
Avoiding the obvious: alcohol, fructose overload, industrial seed oils
Your liver doesn’t need a “cleanse.” It needs substrates, cofactors, and you to stop poisoning it. Respect the biochemistry.
P.S.i know milk thistle is not an enzyme.

Your multivitamin might be doing nothing for you — or worse, causing harm. 🧬

If you’ve got an MTHFR snip (and roughly 40–60% of people carry at least one variant), your body can’t efficiently convert synthetic folic acid into the active form your cells actually need. That means standard B9 and B12 just pile up unmetabolized in your system while you remain functionally deficient.

The fix? Methylated B vitamins. Methylfolate instead of folic acid. Methylcobalamin instead of cyanocobalamin. Active forms your body can use immediately — no conversion required.

Common signs of poor methylation: brain fog, fatigue, anxiety, histamine intolerance, high homocysteine, and recurrent miscarriages. Yet mainstream medicine rarely tests for MTHFR variants before slapping you on an SSRI or telling you it’s “just stress.”

Don’t guess. Get the gene test. Switch to methylated forms. Your biochemistry will thank you.

Drop a 🧬 if you’ve made the switch and noticed a difference.

Your fatigue isn’t in your head — it’s in your mitochondria.

Think of your cells like billions of tiny rechargeable batteries. Every one of them runs on a molecule called NAD⁺ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide). No NAD⁺, no energy conversion. No energy conversion, no you.

The problem? NAD⁺ levels drop hard after about age 30. By 40, you’re running on roughly half what you had at 20. Alcohol, poor sleep, chronic stress, environmental toxins — all of it drains the tank faster. You’re not “getting old” or “being lazy.” Your cellular batteries are literally running on empty.

The good news: NAD⁺ precursors (like NR and NMN), exercise, fasting, and sauna use all upregulate mitochondrial biogenesis and NAD⁺ synthesis. You can recharge.

Your exhaustion has a biochemical address. Find it.

Option 2: Aggressive / Wake-Up-Call Style
Hook: If you could see what your phone is doing to your cells, you’d never put it in your pocket again.
The wireless industry pulled the same playbook as Big Tobacco—flood the market, suppress the research, call anyone who asks questions a conspiracy theorist. Meanwhile, s***m studies, blood-brain barrier research, and oxidative stress markers all point the same direction.
Enter: Alterra Neutralizer on the back of my phone and a magnet on my body. Not a Faraday cage—this thing restructures the signal so your body doesn’t interpret it as an attack.
You don’t have to go live in a cave. Just neutralize the assault.

What can a pulse tell us about circulation? 🫀

Digital pulse wave analysis offers a noninvasive window into vascular dynamics, while ongoing research into the nitric oxide (NO) pathway helps us understand how the endothelium regulates blood vessel tone and blood flow.

This connects to a landmark discovery: in 1998, Robert Furchgott, Louis Ignarro, and Ferid Murad received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their discoveries concerning nitric oxide as a signaling molecule in the cardiovascular system.

A fascinating intersection of physiology, technology, and vascular research—and a reminder that sometimes a tiny signal can tell us a lot.

Some people who struggle with cow’s milk say goat milk feels easier on their stomach. That’s because it has slightly less lactose than cow’s milk and a different fat/protein structure that may be easier for some people to digest. And beyond digestion, goat milk brings real nutritional value too: protein, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, and vitamin A. Bottom line: it’s not lactose-free, but for some people, it can be a gentler dairy option. 🐐🥛✨

What kind of exercise actually helps you age well?
Not just look better.
Not just sweat more.
Not just “work out.”
We’re talking about the kind of movement that helps you stay strong, mobile, balanced, resilient, and independent over time.

This Sunday, Dr. Alexander Gilmore is teaching a Functional Movement Seminar focused on the movement pillars that matter most for long-term health: strength, low-intensity cardio, higher-intensity cardio, mobility, balance, and consistency.

If you’ve ever felt unsure what type of exercise actually supports your body as you age — this class is for you.
