As we welcome the Autumn Equinox today, may we find balance in the changing light, embrace the invitation to turn inward, and move gently into the season ahead.
We also celebrate Ayurveda Day on Wednesday, 9/23🧡 A global, annual celebration of this ancient wisdom that continues to meet us exactly where we are.
Most of you have been practicing Ayurveda for a long time without realizing it. This may look like the simple shift from salads to soups this time of year, or winding down your evenings earlier as the daylight hours become shorter.
Ayurveda encourages us to become curious about our own experience. By observing how we respond to different foods, routines, environments, and practices, we discover what truly supports us.
We live in a world filled with messages about what we should eat, how we should exercise, and who we should become. The best intentioned wellness advice can leave us feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from our own inner knowing. (If you’re a woman going through perimenopause currently, the advise can be especially overwhelming!)
One of my favorite Sanskrit words we use in Ayurveda is upashaya. It is a part of both diagnosis and treatment of any ailment. It translates to “alleviating factor” or what brings harmony - learning what is beneficial through personal experience and observation. It’s about discovering what is true for you and what brings you the most peace.
In a world full of competing advice, Ayurveda invites us to move beyond the next “should” and reconnect with our own inner wisdom and cultivate deeper selftrust.
