Approaching Heliacal Rise of Venus - Oct 30
Venus, in Libra, is rapidly approaching the point when she will rise in the early morning sky. That will begin a new synodic cycle, incorporating the retrograde in the signs of Scorpio and Libra. The cycle goes on for 584 days or about 19 months until June 7, 2028.

Venus is currently about 3 degrees below (to the right of the ecliptic as Venus rises). For those few that have an unobstructed view (and without light pollution) of the ESE horizon and sky may be able to see Venus as early at the 28th or 29th when it is 9+ degrees from the Sun. It won't be until the 30th, when Venus reaches 10 degrees from the Sun that many of us will be able to see it.

Anytime we get to experience a heliacal rise of Venus, we are resetting the expression of the feminine principle for humanity. She rise rise at 27°02’ Libra. We all have a masculine and feminine "energy" within our soul, and this incarnation of Venus brings in the Libra archetypal energy that is alchemizing with Scorpio as well within the feminine in society.

For Libra, this means there is a major emergence of a focus on connections with others, building relationships and assuring the fairness of justice while balancing the needs of all people. The Scorpio expression shares with humanity the need to peer deeply into the mysteries of ourselves, our relationship with power (within and how much to we give away to others and/or don't believe we have the power to change anything or decide for we we desire).

This alchemy of Libra and Scorpio brings in this relationship dynamic with mystery/power at a new level. At this heliacal rise, we can inquire within about how we feel in our relationships and check in to see examples of where we've given away our power or even where we experienced the powerlessness and found a way to gather our own power to manifest what we desire. This Libra/Scorpio alchemy last happened in 2018.

For some of, we may be in a Venus Return cycle. If we are turning age 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88 between Oct 30, 2026 and Jun 7, 2028, this is our Venus Return and a time of maturation or evolution of our own inner feminine.

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio on Oct 24

The Sun enters the Sign of Scorpio Oct 23, 2026
On the same calendar day that the Sun and Venus conjunct, the Sun ingresses into the sign of Scoprio at 2:37 am PDT on Oct 23, 2026. Venus then conjuncts the Sun at 00°45’ Scorpio at 8:43 pm PDT.

The Sun moves into a new sign every month and October brings in the sign of Scorpio and a season of storms and response to the storms. It is a time of consciously working with life force, control of will and a creative expression that manifests into reality.

Scorpio is an archetypal sign of the Shaman / Sorceress / Edgewalker. It is a sign that helps us reach the edge of life and see what is beyond. It is an organic watery passion that is controlling its emotional state through will while maintaining conscious connection to the deeper mysteries.

The Sun will be an astrological sign every month, which lasts, on average about 30 days. This is not the same as the constellations or groups of stars in the sky. The signs and constellations are different, but the origins of their names are rooted together thousands of years ago.

The astrological signs are anchored in the seasonal or calendrical time shifts and don't migrate or precess. The constellations, on the other hand, do precess against the signs, very very slowly over thousands of years. This is why we have the sign of Sagittarius currently overlayed against the constellation of the Scorpion and Virgo mostly overlayed against the constellation of the Lion.

As I wrote about yesterday, the Sun is conjunct retrograding Venus on the same day, marking the middle of Venus' retrograde period and signalling we are close to Venus rising on Oct 30 in Libra.

The Sun remains in the sign of Scorpio until November 21st, the first day of the season of Sagittarius.

Venus and the Sun in an Interior Conjunction on Oct 23, 2026

Retrograding Venus will be conjunct the Sun at 00˚45’ Scorpio at 8:43 pm PDT. This is the second and final conjunction of Venus and the Sun during this waning Venus Synodic Cycle. It will also be the last time that Venus and the Sun will conjunct while Venus is also retrograding in the sign of Scorpio. 8 years from now, it will be in the sign of Libra.

In shamanic astrology, the Venus synodic cycle follows the ancient goddess Inanna (as a planet) across the sky in her many incarnations and expressions and she travels in and out of the underworld, ultimately reclaiming her power through death-rebirth. At this stage in the Inanna story (Venus cycle), she has completed her rebirth and is preparing her metamorphasis to rise again in the sign of Libra, which happens on October 30th.

This metamorphic phase of Venus (Inanna) is the stage where the planet is retrograding and passing between the Sun and Earth. It disappears from the unaided eye anywhere from 1-2 weeks, depending upon its declination from the ecliptic. In the middle of that disappearance and retrograde period, Venus is conjunct the Sun. Shamanically, this marks a place of divine guidance in Venus' metamorphasis on the journey to reappear.

Venus has been in the evening sky since February 17, 2026, in the sign of Pisces. When Venus becomes visible again on October 30, 2026 (using the rule of thumb of 10 degrees from the Sun), Venus will experience her heliacal rise in the early morning sky about a half-hour prior to sunrise in the eastern sky.

At this conjunction moment on the 23rd, we can all connect with our inner and/or our divine guidance (or higher self too) to see how we will rise in ourselves and beyond the challenges that confront us. One of the purposes of being on the planet is to see our way through the dark or shine a light into it on our way to becoming whole. The Venus synodic cycle is to help us us do that through the feminine and her reception of knowledge and wisdom withn and without into a greater transformation of Self.
