🎃🍂 Pumpkin Patch Fun at Arden Courts!

Our residents had such a wonderful time enjoying a day at the pumpkin patch! ❤️

At Arden Courts, we believe that a diagnosis of dementia should never mean the end of enjoying the community and making new memories. Our residents go on regular outings to local restaurants, parks, events, seasonal activities, and more.

We know that outings can sometimes be challenging for individuals living with dementia, which is why many communities may not be able to offer them regularly. But at Arden Courts, dementia care is what we specialize in. Our team is specially trained to support our residents and help them safely continue doing the things they enjoy.

Today was extra special for our Arden Courts Memory Care team. As a community that specializes in dementia care, Alzheimer’s is more than just a cause to us — it is at the heart of what we do every day.

We walked to honor the individuals and families whose lives have been touched by Alzheimer’s and dementia, to celebrate our residents, and to support the hope for a future without this disease.

We are so grateful to everyone who walked alongside us, supported our team, and helped make today so meaningful. Every step matters. 💜

A dementia diagnosis changes how a person navigates the world, but it does not erase their personality, hobbies, or emotional depth. Through tailored engagement, music, sensory experiences, and familiar routines, our care teams foster genuine connection and purposeful living.

National Assisted Living Week is here, and as a team exclusively dedicated to memory care, we are taking this opportunity to clear up some of the biggest misconceptions in our field. First, let's discuss when to make the move:
Myth: Specialized memory care should only be considered in the very late stages of dementia.

Fact: Moving earlier allows residents to build routines, form bonds, and thrive while actively engaging in programming.

Waiting for a crisis often makes transitioning harder for everyone. Entering a supportive memory care environment in early to moderate stages lets individuals adapt comfortably, build strong relationships with caregivers, and maximize their cognitive and social well-being.

When people hear "memory care," or "assisted living" they often picture quiet hallways and closed doors. But if you walk into Arden Courts on any given Tuesday, you’re much more likely to hear music, shared laughter, and the hum of connection.

A common misconception is that a move to memory care means an end to independence and routine. In reality, it is often a new beginning. By wrapping a secure, purpose-built environment around our residents, and taking care of the daily stressors like cooking, cleaning, and safety oversight, we actually help them regain a sense of freedom. Instead of struggling with daily frustrations, they find space to focus on what still brings them joy: familiar habits, sensory moments, and engaging activities tailored to where they are right now.

National Assisted Living Week is a wonderful reminder to look past the stigmas and celebrate what specialized community living is truly about: supporting dignity, fostering purposeful days, and honoring the individual.

A Heartwarming Reunion: Then & Now 🐣➡️🦆
Our residents helped raise baby ducks — feeding them, watching them grow, and forming special bonds along the way.
This week, those very same ducks came back to visit! 🦆💛 It was a beautiful reunion that brought smiles, laughter, and a sense of recognition to many of our residents.
Interactions with animals can spark memories, reduce anxiety, and bring genuine joy.
For some, seeing the ducks again brought a sense of familiarity that words couldn’t express.

Residents had an eventful day here at Arden Courts - ProMedica Memory Care Community (Chagrin Falls), as they hosted their very own Olympics! 🥇🏆Everyone was able to participate in basketball, ring toss, boxing, ribbon dancing, target shooting and soccer - keeping spirits high and encouraging physical movement. Whether it's through a little friendly rivalry or cheering each other on, we love seeing the smiles and energy these events bring to our community!

April Suva, business development specialist for Arden Courts - ProMedica Memory Care Community (Chagrin Falls) recently presented Normal Aging vs. Dementia to over 25 seniors at the Bainbridge Senior Center! Attendees learned the difference between typical brain changes as we age and then the warning signs for something more serious.

April worked closely with Keri Skrtic, Recreation/Education Coordinator at the senior center to coordinate the program and have scheduled more for the upcoming years!
