End Seclusion and Restraint in Illinois Public Schools

10,776 students secluded during the 2017-2018 school year

Seclusion up over 50% since data was sent to the federal government 2 years ago

"I can't breathe." 30 school children in Illinois uttered these words while restrained. This data was gathered from August 2017-Dec. 2018.

80% of restraints are used on disabled students while disabled students make up only 13% of the student body across the nation. Brown and Black students and boys are also disproportionally secluded and restrained.
