💧 “Do you empty the pod after every float?”
This is a question we get pretty often — and we completely understand why you’d ask! ❤️
There’s actually a lot more that goes into maintaining a float pod than most people realize.
Our Royal Spa float pods hold 150+ gallons of water and approximately 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt. That water isn’t simply sitting in the pod between clients. Our filtration system works continuously to circulate and turn over the water, helping remove impurities and keep the water clean and properly maintained between sessions.
And that’s just one part of our process:

🔄 The water is turned over repeatedly between sessions
🧼 The pod and surfaces are cleaned between every float

So do we completely drain the pod after every float? No — and that’s actually a good thing!
When we do completely drain a pod, as John is doing in this video, it’s a pretty involved process. After allowing time to purge the water, draining 150+ gallons takes time. Then comes the cleaning, refilling, adding and dissolving approx. 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt, balancing the water chemistry and levels, and allowing everything to settle and fully dissolve.
By the time a pod is ready to welcome our next floater, we’re talking several hours — and sometimes close to a full day.
We know it can be surprising to learn that float pods aren’t emptied and refilled after every single session, but that isn’t necessary when the water is properly filtered, cleaned, monitored and maintained.
Our goal is to provide you with a float environment that is clean, safe, properly maintained and relaxing — while also being responsible with hundreds of gallons of water, thousands of pounds of Epsom salt and the resources required to maintain it. 🌎💙
And after hauling, draining, cleaning and refilling all that water and salt… John is definitely going to need a float after this one. 😂💙
