Wondering how to increase testosterone naturally? Learn how exercise, sleep, nutrition, weight management and certain foods support healthy testosterone—and when TRT or other medical options may be considered.

Low energy. Decreased motivation. Changes in body composition. Reduced strength. Lower s*x drive. When men begin experiencing symptoms like these, one of the first questions they may ask is: “Could my testosterone be low—and can I increase it naturally?”

Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything “right”—eating well, exercising consistently—and the scale still won’t budge?

Weight gain isn’t always about willpower or calories. Sometimes, your body is signaling that there’s an underlying medical issue that deserves attention.

Three common contributors include:

🔹 Thyroid dysfunction – An underactive thyroid can slow metabolism and affect energy levels.

🔹 Insulin resistance – Your body may become less responsive to insulin, making it more difficult to regulate blood sugar and maintain a healthy weight.

🔹 Hormone imbalances – Changes in hormones such as cortisol, estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone can influence appetite, energy, sleep, and body composition.

At Pro Health Functional Medicine, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. We take time to understand your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, and laboratory findings to create a personalized plan designed to address potential underlying contributors to weight gain.

Whether your goal is to improve your energy, support metabolic health, or finally understand why your body isn’t responding the way you expect, we’re here to help you take the next step.

😴 Sleep and autoimmune disease are often more connected than we realize.

Living with an autoimmune condition can make quality sleep harder to achieve. Insomnia, sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, circadian rhythm disruptions, excessive daytime sleepiness, and other sleep disturbances may all affect how rested you feel.

🤍But improving sleep isn’t one-size-fits-all. The right approach depends on why your sleep is being disrupted. For one person, that may mean addressing sleep apnea. For another, it could involve iron status, daily routines, pain, medications, stress, or another underlying health concern.

In this week’s Living Beyond Autoimmune Disease, we’re sharing simple strategies that may help support better sleep—while remembering that persistent sleep problems deserve individualized evaluation.

Because better sleep isn’t just about feeling rested. It’s an important part of supporting your overall health.

Could you have insulin resistance and not know it?

Insulin resistance can develop quietly, sometimes years before type 2 diabetes. It happens when your cells don’t respond as effectively to insulin, causing your body to work harder to keep blood sugar within a healthy range.

The good news is that insulin resistance can often be improved. Regular movement, strength training, balanced nutrition, adequate protein, quality sleep, stress management, and maintaining a healthy weight when appropriate can all support better insulin sensitivity.

Routine labs matter, too. Checking markers such as fasting glucose and A1C can help identify changes in your metabolic health early.

Swipe through to learn more about insulin resistance, blood sugar, and the steps you can take to protect your long-term health.

At Pro Health Functional Medicine, we help patients in Chandler, Arizona and through telehealth in Iowa take a proactive, personalized approach to metabolic health.

😶‍🌫️ Why do I have brain fog?

Brain fog can feel like forgetfulness, difficulty concentrating, trouble finding words, mental fatigue, or simply feeling like your brain isn’t as sharp as it used to be.

And while brain fog isn’t a medical diagnosis, persistent symptoms may be worth investigating.

Poor sleep, blood sugar changes, perimenopause and menopause, thyroid dysfunction, nutrient deficiencies, chronic stress, medications, recent illness or Long COVID, mental health concerns, and other medical conditions can all contribute.

The important part? There isn’t one universal cause—or one universal solution.

At Pro Health Functional Medicine in Chandler, AZ, we look at symptoms in the context of the whole person. Depending on your individual needs, that may include evaluating sleep, metabolic health, thyroid function, hormones, nutrition, medications, health history, and appropriate lab work.

If you’ve been thinking, “I just don’t feel as sharp as I used to,” don’t automatically assume it’s something you have to accept with age.

Your symptoms are information. Understanding what’s contributing to them is the first step.

Read our newest blog: “Why Do I Have Brain Fog? 10 Possible Causes and What You Can Do.”

Peptides 101: What Are Peptides?

Peptide therapy is getting a lot of attention—but not all peptides are the same, and they aren’t one-size-fits-all.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that can act as signaling molecules in the body. Different peptide-based therapies are used or studied for areas such as metabolic health, hormone signaling, body composition, immune function, and recovery.

At Pro Health Functional Medicine in Chandler, AZ, we believe peptide therapy should start with the individual—not the trend. Your health history, labs, medications, and goals all matter when determining whether a particular therapy is appropriate.

Swipe through our Peptides 101 carousel to learn the basics, and talk with your healthcare provider before beginning any peptide treatment.
