Last chance will be tomorrow, Monday until 6pm to grab packs of Microgreen Kitchen microgreens from Blackberry Lane Farm!
The weather was a turd this weekend and severely interrupted business hours at the farmstand so I am sure there are still plenty. I will not be restocking the farmstand for a couple weeks, potentially longer as schedules and weather are going to be an issue and I will go back to the drawing board for some good solutions. I know I had several customers wanting a Plainfield pickup location which I have been brainstorming. That will require orders to be placed ahead of time, so please just reach out if that is the option you would like to see. I will be bringing some packs out to a friend there in a couple weeks so just let me know if your interested.
Packs are loaded at the Farmstand in Channahon and are self-serve tomorrow with Blackberry Lane Farm. They are open until 6pm and are located at 25649 S. Blackberry Ln in Channahon. Your support means a lot right now as the farm is going through some adjustments. I think it will be best to pull inward and focus on improving the farm for larger scale than it is to take on more with my current setup. So I am not sure when the next time the farmstand will be stocked. Customers are always welcome to place orders for local delivery, that is always locked in!
I started two new seed varieties but they will need to be tested and proved out before I offer anything to the public.
They are Cilantro and Arugula!
Both will be single variety trays grown and packed individually. The cilantro is incredible tasting and such a good crop for so many dishes! I never spent too much time on it as I focused on the life changing varieties first, but cilantro does have so amazing features!
Arugula is a brassica so within the same family as broccoli and cabbage. Everything brassica is incredible for our diets. The flavor is a punch of peppery goodness that should make it a popular variety if you like the spicy salad mix and want even more flavor.
I am waiting patiently for my favorite seed supplier to stock new spicy and Mild Salad Mixes so I am hoping those start producing some of the best spicy salad mixes again, good seed has been a nightmare to source without going through the conglomerates!
New Sunflower and radish are being planted tomorrow for local customers! The new broccoli will be arriving later in the week and will be on the next round after the 1st of October. I did get this broccoli seed to start producing better so you should have some great broccoli either way!
What is a microgreen variety you would like to see stocked here at Microgreen Kitchen?
Popcorn Shoots?
Beets?
Mustard?
More mixes?
Let me know please!
Thank you for your support everyone and I am not going anywhere, just taking my foot off the gas and investing in the grow operation.
