Hello everyone! We know it’s been hot outside over the last couple month, and we wanted to share a bit of information about heat related illnesses. Per the CDC, heat stroke is the most serious heat-related illness. It occurs when the body can no longer control its temperature. A heat stroke can cause permanent disability or death if the person does not receive emergency treatment.
Symptoms include:
Confusion, altered mental status, slurred speech
Loss of consciousness (coma)
Hot, dry skin or profuse sweating
Seizures
Very high body temperature
Please take a moment to look at the information provided by the CDC for an in-depth look at other heat-related illnesses. https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/heat-stress/about/illnesses.html?CDC_AAref_Val=https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/heatstress/heatrelillness.html
