tiny update for yall - in a pretty rapid turn of events (we only found out this was an option on tuesday or wednesday of this week!) at about 2pm yesterday my father was told he was being transferred to another facility in Danville, Virginia at around 4:15pm that same day.

he was successfully driven up via ambulance yesterday evening. it's a town right by the NC/Virginia border and a little over a 1.5 hour drive from Sanford. my mom drove up this morning and this is with him now :')

quick news for those unaware: my dad was suddenly moved back over to Select Speciallty Hospital on the 6th floor of the Duke Regional hospital this week. we learned about the transfer the day of, just a couple of hours before

very aware i still haven't given the proper update i owe yall - apologies for the delay, things are truly crazy over here. i plan to carve out time this week if all goes well. thanks!

i wanted to make a quick post saying that my dad's surgery last week went well - i owe yall a larger update in the near future but it's been a crazy busy couple of days. i got to speak with a member of the surgical team this afternoon and she confirmed that his wound looks great right now, but that they will continue to be diligent in monitoring him because it is a surgery that is high risk to fail. please keep him and us in your prayers. -Sara

my dad will be going into surgery on his pressure ulcer today at 1:45pm. if i understood correctly, the recovery period will be around 6 weeks in the hospital. please keep him in your hearts today

video update from my dad - he's back at Chapel Hill. every single referral rhat UNC has sent since tuesday for care once discharged has been rejected, and since it's now the weekend and he's still going into brain/stroke/organ damage levels worth of hypertension episodes daily, he needs to stay at the hospital where he can be taken care of for now. hopefully next week we can get some more options presented to us.

please consider dropping by for a visit if you can ❤️

hello all! Sara here. long post ahead, but the tl;dr is that my dad will be coming home on april 2nd and we have some help needs in the bullet points below

i'm so relieved to announce that after a LOT of back and forth with the doctors and insurance, we my dad is getting extended an extra week. he will definitely be coming home tuesday april 1st, no exceptions, but it's a huge weight off.

just getting an extra afternoon back to continue to prepare the house has made a massive difference.

as some of you know, my cousin, Samuel, has come in from abroad to help with the transition. the two of us worked until nearly 11pm last night and it's truly night and day. i'm exhausted and so is my cousin but the house is in SO much better shape. i feel like i can breathe a bit more and make intentional choices instead of the frantic chaotic scrambling that we had before.

special thanks to Caitlin Sullivan for setting up the meal train, Mary Beth Wiltshire for bringing Sami and i food last night when we were about to crash from exhaustion. and another sincere thank you to every every every every single soul who have signed up or donated money for food.

my mom is going to be up at the hospital for the rest of the week and she has the car, so i'm going to put in some requests for help if anyone is able:

- grocery run: if anyone is willing to take us to the store or could pick up an online grocery order and drop it off at our home 3 mins from the Food Lion on Hawkins, that'd be amazing. we're currently out of all pretty much all basic essentials including milk, eggs, bread, cheese, butter, and deli ham

-printer: i have a few important forms that we need copies of, one which needs to be printed, signed, and mailed out ASAP

-special waste disposal: this is more long term, but we have some garbage that includes electronic waste, chemicals (wood paints, sprays, and other stuff from my dad's garage), and even some old lawn mowers my dad would cannibalize for parts but now are taking up too much space in our backyard

-clothes: if anyone has clothes they want to donate (especially scrubs or workout gear) in sizes ranging from XL to 2XL and can drop them off, that would be a huge help

this extension of stay was a prayer answered. God is so good. all of the time. thank you for supporting us ❤️

hello all! Sara here.

as you may know, as of this moment, my dad is expected to be discharged on Tuesday, March 25th. it's honestly more than a bit terrifying. this past week itself has been nonstop. supplies for his care have been trickling in - his loaner power wheelchair was delivered today, and his hospital bed and hoyer lift should be arriving tomorrow.

if you are interested and/or waiting to help, a very tangible need we have right now is support with feeding ourselves in this time. to that end, a lovely meal train page has been created that i will link you to below. special thank you to Caitlin for giving the idea and doing the initial set-up on the website.

thank you to everyone who is keeping us in their prayers. we need them. blessings to all

This meal train is for Jorge and his family. He was in a car accident in October. He has been in the hospital for almost 6 months and is finally returning home. Preparing meals will be extremely helpful for the family so they can focus on caring for Jorge when he is home. They greatly appreciate eve...

we did a good thing yesterday. an imperfect day for sure, but i'm holding on to the good memories when i can. -Sara

DAD IF YOURE READING THIS PLEASE LOOK AWAY!!

~~

might anyone be free today and be able to take the dog, Arya, and my cousin Samuel and i to Hillsborough to visit my dad? we believe that it might cheer him up. he's had a rough week.

she is fresh from the groomers, rides in the car all the time me with no issues, and very well behaved. she would be wearing her service dog in training vest.

my mom's running a bunch of errands today and the timing just wouldn't work out. but seeing as Arya's freshly groomed, i really would love to be able to take advantage
