We loved seeing some of our newest Tar Heel MD alumni in Seattle and New York City over the weekend, where local volunteers hosted "Welcome" events designed to bring together UNC School of Medicine alumni and our newest grads who are starting their training away from Chapel Hill. Many thanks to Michael Batten, MD '97, Dinushika Mohottige, MD '13, and Molly Jackson, MD '04 and Ben Jackson, MD '05 for being our hosts for these events!

Join fellow UNC School of Medicine alumni and friends on Saturday, November 14 as we celebrate Homecoming with a special pre-game tailgate event before the Tar Heels take on Louisville! A small block of game tickets will also be available. Save the date; invitation coming later in July!

Third year student Rachael Dorwart has been working with the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team this past season. We love seeing our students take advantage of unique opportunities to learn and grow professionally. Hear what she has to say about the experience:

“The experience this season with the Canes has been absolutely amazing! I work all game days with them and basically give a hand to help wherever it is needed. It has been so cool to be a part of the team and even work a Stanley Cup Final! Before the game, I set up the bench with all the medical and team equipment needed, help with pre-game treatments, and warm-ups. During the game, I am behind the bench just making sure everyone has what they need for the game, and assist the team doctors in all care in the event someone gets hurt. After the game, I help with the post-game lift, recovery, and make sure everything is in place for the next game day.”
