•1/4 cup peanut butter
•1 tbsp honey
•1 tbsp pumpkin puree
•Mini Chocolate chips- add as much as you like!

Directions:
1. Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix until well combined.
*Sometimes I will chill the mixture for 10 minutes depending on the time (helps with the stickiness)

Would you add chocolate chips or leave them out?

Three nutrition mistakes I see over and over:

1. Try to change everything at once.

2. Focusing on only what to remove instead of what to add.

3. Creating a plan that doesn’t fit real life.

A better approach:
🫶🏼Start small.
🫶🏼Add nutritious foods.
🫶🏼Build meals around your needs.
🫶🏼Plan for busy days.
🫶🏼Keep foods you enjoy.
🫶🏼Adjust as you learn.

That’s a lot more sustainable than starting another extreme plan.

🚶‍♀️ Movement doesn’t have to mean a workout.

Your body benefits from movement throughout the day—even in small amounts.

✨ Take a 10-minute walk after dinner
✨ Stretch while watching your favorite show
✨ Park a little farther away
✨ Take the stairs when you can
✨ Garden, dance, play with your kids, or walk the dog
✨ Stand up and move around during long periods of sitting

The goal isn’t to “earn” your food or punish your body.
The goal is to help your body feel, function, and move better. ❤️

Start small. Choose something you enjoy. And remember: some movement is better than none.

Hi, I’m Madison! Let’s get to know each other.

If you’re new here, I wanted to take a little break from the nutrition tips and introduce myself and the person behind Hopeful Healing LLC.

I’m a mom of two, wife, dietitian, chef, and someone who genuinely loves good food!

My journey into nutrition actually started at Johnson & Wales University, where I studied Culinary Nutrition. I went on to become a chef before becoming a registered dietitian — so food has always been a huge part of my life.

And here’s something you might not expect…
I was actually the worst eater growing up. 😂 I was extremely picky and didn’t even know how to cook before going to college!

Going from not knowing how to cook to becoming a chef and eventually a dietitian has made me realize just how much our relationship with food can change over time. Today, I genuinely love being in the kitchen, trying new recipes, and finding ways to make nutritious food enjoyable and realistic.

I have had the opportunity to work with college athletes at the University of Alabama and later at the University of South Carolina. Those experiences taught me so much about performance nutrition, fueling your body, and — most importantly — how different nutrition needs can be from person to person.

I actually met my husband here in South Carolina, and what started as a place I came to eventually became home. ❤️ Now we have two kids and are building our life here together.

A few things about me outside of nutrition:
🏋️‍♀️ I love working out and staying active🍝 I LOVE good food👩‍🍳 I’m happiest in the kitchen trying a new recipe👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 My family is my favorite thing in the world🏔️ I love being in the mountains🌊 I also love being by the ocean☕ I appreciate the little everyday moments🥗 And yes… I absolutely talk about food way more than the average person 😂

I started Hopeful Healing because I want nutrition to feel less overwhelming and more approachable.

I don't believe you need to eat perfectly to be healthy. I believe you can enjoy your favorite foods, eat at restaurants, have dessert, enjoy time with your family, and still work toward your health goals.

My goal is to help people find a way of eating that is realistic, enjoyable, personalized, and sustainable.

So, if you're new here — welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. 💚

Now I want to get to know you!
👇 Tell me one thing about yourself in the comments — where you're from, your favorite food, your favorite place to travel, or something you're currently working toward!

What does a dietitian actually do?

A dietitian isn’t there to hand you a list of foods you’re “allowed” to eat.

Nutrition counseling may involve:
• Reviewing your current eating pattern
• Discussing health conditions and nutrition goals
• Identifying barriers
• Creating realistic strategies
• Learning label-reading skills
• Improving meal structure
• Planning for restaurants and travel
• Adjusting strategies over time

Think of it less like being handed a diet and more like having a nutrition expert help you build a system that works.

Myth: “If I have prediabetes, I have to completely cut out sugar and carbs”

Fact: You don’t have to give up carbs to manage prediabetes 🙌🏼

Nutrition changes can be one important part of a broader plan for improving metabolic health.
Instead of:

❌ “I can’t eat carbs anymore.”
Try:
✅ “How can I build meals with more fiber, protein and balanced portions?”

Instead of:
❌ “I need to completely change my diet.”
Try:
✅ “What’s one meal I can improve this week?”
Small, consistent changes are often much easier to maintain than an extreme overhaul.

Carbs are an important source of energy. What matters is the type, portion and what you pair them with.

If you’ve recently been told that your blood sugar is elevated, you don’t have to figure out nutrition alone.

📍 Personalized nutrition counseling available in Chapin.

If we walked into the grocery store together, here’s what I’d want you to remember:

You don’t need a “perfect” cart.

You need ingredients that make eating easier.

Try starting with building a cart around:
🥦 2-3 veggies
🍎 2-3 fruits
🍗 2-3 protein sources
🌾 1-2 high fiber carbs
🍳 A convenient breakfast option
🧊 A few frozen foods for busy nights

Remember:
Frozen veggies count.
Rotisserie chicken can be a great option on those busy nights.
Pre cut produce is a great quick option.
Convenience isn’t the enemy!

A sustainable plan has to work on your busiest week- not just your best week.

Chapin friends, what’s the one grocery item you always keep stocked?

Comment your must have grocery item! 🍯

Quick Nutrition Check In:

Which one is hardest for you?

A. Planning meals
B. Eating enough protein
C. Eating enough vegetables
D. Cooking for the whole family
E. Knowing what to eat at restaurants
F. Staying consistent during busy weeks

There is no wrong answer. And there is no prize for choosing “all of the above” 😉.

Knowing where you are struggling is actually useful information.

Your doctor can identify a health concern.

Your dietitian can help turn nutrition recommendations into something that you can actually do on Tuesday night at 6:30.

That’s why nutrition care works best as part of a team.

We believe in working collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals when appropriate.

A patient may here:
“Your cholesterol is elevated”

“Your A1C is trending up.”

The next question is often: “Okay what should I eat”

That’s where individualized nutrition counseling can help. As a dietitian our goal isn’t to replace your medical team but become a trusted partner within it.
