There are so many children in West Virginia who need ABA services, and simply not enough providers to serve them.

44 out of 55 counties in West Virginia have no ABA services. Families are waiting, traveling long distances, or struggling to find a provider who has the capacity to help.

West Virginia Medicaid’s reimbursement for ABA is reported as the lowest in the nation. This creates real challenges for providers. Recruiting and retaining qualified staff, providing ongoing supervision and training, and maintaining the resources needed to deliver quality care all come with significant costs.

We want to grow, expand our capacity, and most importantly, we want to be able to say yes to more families when they call. But we can’t do this alone.

If you believe West Virginia children deserve access to the services they need, please contact your state legislators and WV Medicaid/Bureau for Medical Services.

Ask them to support:

• More ABA providers across West Virginia
• Sustainable Medicaid reimbursement
• Fewer barriers to serving Medicaid families

We want to serve more children. We want to support more families. We need your help to make that possible.

The Developmental Advantage is proud to announce that our Chief Operating Officer, Ryan Raynes, has officially earned his Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential!

Ryan's journey in applied behavior analysis has been built on years of dedication, hard work, and a passion for serving children and families. He began his career as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), earned his BCaBA credential, and joined The Developmental Advantage in 2020 as a BCaBA and Clinic Supervisor. In 2025, Ryan transitioned into the role of Chief Operating Officer, where he has continued to lead our organization while remaining committed to clinical excellence. Now, he celebrates another major milestone by becoming a BCBA.

In addition to his leadership at The Developmental Advantage, Ryan serves as the Chair of the West Virginia ABA Workforce Development Committee, where he works alongside providers across the state to strengthen the ABA workforce and improve access to high-quality services for individuals and families.

Ryan's commitment to our clients, families, staff, and the continued growth of ABA in West Virginia is evident every day. His leadership, compassion, and dedication have helped shape The Developmental Advantage into the organization it is today, and earning his BCBA further strengthens the clinical expertise of our team.

As a CSED Family Therapist, you'll provide in-home and community-based services that help children with serious emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs remain successful in their homes and communities. You'll work alongside families, treatment teams, and community supports to create lasting positive change.

This position is open statewide and offers flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your local community.

We are looking for licensed professionals, as well as individuals who are license-eligible and working toward independent licensure with supervision. Real Work. Real Impact.

Meet Tori R., RBT

When Tori first started looking into ABA, she admits she didn’t know much about the field. Having a brother with autism made her want to better understand what support and resources were available for families, which eventually led her to becoming an RBT.

Now, she’s found a passion in working with children and helping them grow every day.

One moment she says will always stick with her was watching her first client graduate from ABA services. While it was emotional to say goodbye, it was also the moment she realized just how meaningful this work really is.

“ABA was simply a stepping stone to this kid’s whole future. I love knowing that the work I do helps build a foundation for children’s entire lives.”

Tori says becoming an RBT helped shape her future in ways she never expected. What started as uncertainty turned into a passion for helping children learn, grow, and succeed. She is now pursuing early childhood education and hopes to continue working with young children for years to come.

Her advice for anyone thinking about becoming an RBT?

“Just do it. Don’t let being nervous or inexperienced stop you. You’ll be trained and supported, and you truly have the opportunity to impact lives here.”

The work our staff does each day is about so much more than behavior goals. It is helping children build independence, learn daily living skills, strengthen communication, and gain confidence in everyday life.

Meet Heaven

After discovering the field and becoming an RBT, Heaven found a passion for helping others and hopes to continue growing within the field of ABA.

Becoming an RBT has taught her to appreciate and celebrate every milestone. What may seem small to some can be a huge step for others, and being able to witness that progress is one of the most rewarding parts of the job!

Being an RBT is more than a job. It’s the opportunity to make a difference, celebrate growth, and help children build skills that support greater independence.
