We wanted to share an update and apologize for being quiet these past few weeks.
Unfortunately, our family has been navigating an incredibly difficult loss. My husband recently lost his father, and our children lost their beloved Pappy. He was such a huge part of our lives, and his absence has left a space that can never truly be filled. The past few weeks have been spent grieving, supporting one another, and trying to be there for my mother-in-law as she faces the unimaginable loss of her husband.
When we received the news, we did whatever we could to make the trip to Maryland so we could attend the funeral, help with arrangements, and spend a few days with family during one of the hardest times any of us have ever faced. We scraped together every penny we had to make that happen because being there wasn’t something we could miss. While we wouldn’t change that decision for anything, it has left us in an extremely difficult financial position.
To make matters even harder, my husband had to take time away from his new job to attend his father’s funeral and handle family matters back home. Losing that week of income, combined with the travel expenses, has set us back significantly at a time when we were already struggling to stay afloat.
Right now, we are facing a water shutoff scheduled for Wednesday after receiving a termination notice from our water company. We are also still behind on several bills and trying to manage everyday expenses until my husband’s paychecks begin coming in consistently. We truly believed we were starting to turn a corner financially, and in many ways we still are, but this unexpected loss created a setback that we simply weren’t prepared for.
We are also still trying to find a way to replace a few tires on our van and purchase a couple of window air conditioners for the kids’ rooms. Temperatures here have been reaching the 90s, and some days have been very difficult without adequate cooling.
More than anything, we ask for prayers during this time. Please keep my husband in your thoughts as he mourns the loss of his father. Pray for comfort and peace for our children as they process losing their Pappy, and for strength for our family as we work through both the emotional and financial challenges in front of us.
We are doing everything we can to get back on our feet and regain stability. We remain hopeful for the future, even though the road has been much harder than we expected. Your support, kindness, and prayers have carried us through some of our darkest moments, and we are grateful beyond words for every person who continues to stand beside our family.
Thank you all for being here.
God bless,
