We’ve been told that midlife weight gain is basically a math problem:
Eat less.
Exercise more.
Burn more calories.
But what if your body is doing something much more complicated than that?
In this conversation, Dr. Sam Shay explains how changes in estrogen can influence where fat is stored and how the body handles energy—and why simply exercising harder may not address the underlying reason your body is changing.
That’s an important distinction.
Because if your body is responding to hormonal changes, the answer isn’t necessarily to keep pushing harder and eating less.
Sometimes the better question is:
What changed inside your body that made the old strategy stop working?
And THAT is where personalized health gets really interesting.
This is just one of the fascinating conversations from my episode with Dr. Sam Shay on the Pretty Well Podcast.
