Read the information below in its entirety, then let me know if you've got any questions! What to Expect from your Microblading Appointment:
Microbladed eyebrows are expected to last between 12-36 months depending on your skin, lifestyle, and how you care for them. Microblading requires two sessions, as it is a 2-step process. For best results, clients will be required to return for one re-touch
appointment. This will take place between 6-8 weeks after the initial procedure. Everyone's skin is different, so in some cases a third retouch is needed. Most brows' color and intensity will be significantly darker and sharper immediately after the procedure. Trust the process. ( ;
I CANNOT guarantee that there will not be some discomfort. A topical anesthetic is placed over the brow area for 20 minutes, then carefully removed before the microblading begins. Depending on skin type, this will temporarily numb the skin. Most say it feels like small cat scratches and is tolerable. This is dependent on each individual’s pain tolerance. Right after the procedure, the brow area MAY look and feel similar to that of a sunburn or new tattoo - pink/red, sensitive to touch, or look slightly swollen. As with all permanent makeup procedures, this depends on the sensitivity of one’s skin. Pre-procedure Instructions & Precautions:
Chemical / laser peels or Retin-A should not be utilized 6 weeks before the procedure.
2 Weeks before your appointment.. Discontinue use of Vitamin A or Fish Oil supplements, and any anti-aging products that contain retinol. AHA preparations should be undergone no less than 2 weeks before the treatment. Schedule your botox for at least 2 weeks before (or after) your microblading procedure. Electrolysis treatment should be undergone no less that 5 days before microblading, as should tanning, to avoid any burns or peeling. No ibuprofen, anything containing asprin, or antibiotics at least 72 hours prior to your appointment. Any brow shaping (using waxing or tweezing) should be performed at least 48hrs before to avoid skin irritation. Wash your hair the morning before your appointment! You won’t be able to get your brows wet for the next 10-14 days, so wash your hair beforehand to save yourself a few days - and invest in dry shampoo! You can wear your normal make-up on the day of your session. Please do not exercise, drink caffeine or drink alcohol the morning/day of your appointment.
*increased blood flow = excessive bleeding = poor ink retention and healing
Wait to Schedule your Microblading Appointment if:
You are pregnant or breastfeeding (No Exceptions)
You are currently using any acne medication (for example, Retin-A or Accutane)
Undergoing Chemo or another major health therapy as certain meds may affect healing/results (We recommend discussing this procedure with your doctor as some will give the OK depending on your situation. We would need a permission note from the doctor)
Diabetic (Doctor’s note required)
Are on prescribed blood thinners or prescribed an aspirin once a day (Would need a note from your Doctor saying you’re OK to go off the blood thinners or aspirin 7 days before each session)
Exceptions can be made if a legitimate Doctor’s note is provided. Those with serious heart disorders, blood infections, HIV, Hepatitis or liver disease are not candidates for this procedure.
*If you’ve had your brows tattooed/microbladed previously and want them done again, they need to be significantly faded (70%+) I ask that you send pics before booking to confirm you're a candidate. How to Care for your New Eyebrows:
Your eyebrows will probably scab or become slightly dry following your microblading. If they itch, it is *very* important that you do not scratch them. To relieve the itch, just pat them with your finger. Avoid getting your eyebrows wet while they heal. Do not submerge in water for 14 days post procedure. It’s very important that you do not rub them to avoid removing any healing ink; pat them dry with a towel. Avoid excessive sun exposure and excessive sweating (exercise, saunas, steam rooms, tanning beds) for two weeks following the procedure, as this can open the pores/secrete fluid and/or cause the pigment to fade. Do not apply makeup to the brow area, as you won't be able to wash it off while you heal. For up to 14 days following your microblading procedure:
Do not touch, rub, pick or scratch your brows following treatment or during the healing process. Apply your healing balm according to your microblading artist’s advice.
*If you have excessively oily skin, you may not need to use healing balm at all. For those with dry skin, balm can be used up to 3 times a day. Avoid using daily skin care products directly on the eyebrows. It is not recommended to have the procedure done right before an event or vacation for these reasons. Aftercare instructions will be talked about in depth and given on paper at your appointment. Healing
Healing time can vary person to person, depending on their skin. Be patient and trust the healing process! The surface skin heals within 10-14 days, meaning follow your aftercare instructions for the full 10-14 days it takes! Some clients scab and flake, while some do not at all. There is no downtime with this procedure, just instructions that need to be followed after to get the most out of your investment.
*An allergic reaction can occur from any anesthetics used during the procedure. Although this is rare, if you do suffer from an allergic reaction, you should contact your doctor (and then me!) immediately. Allergic reaction response may show through redness, swelling, rash, blistering, dryness or any other symptoms associated with an allergic reaction. If you have upcoming medical procedures:
If you are due to or are having an MRI scan, please inform your doctor that you have had microblading/semi-permanent makeup done. If you are planning a chemical peel or any other medical procedure, please inform the therapist of the microblading procedure you had. A new peel or medical procedure should only be done once the healing process is complete. If you are due to give blood after the procedure, please inform your nurse about the microblading treatment you had done as this might alter the results. Can you bring a guest? I recommend coming to your appointment alone. It is a long service and your guests can get restless. This can be distracting for the artist or make the client more nervous. If you must have someone accompany you, only one person is allowed and please make them aware of the service time.
