My peri, meno, and post-menopause ladies, this one is for you.
And yes, I still hate AI marketing 😂 but this has been on my mind and I needed an easy visual to show you what I mean.
➡️Your gut changes throughout your life. A LOT!!!!
Think about the woman who is 58 now.
In puberty, hormones shifted and maybe periods got painful, skin changed, constipation started, or “random” stomach issues showed up.
Then came her reproductive years. Birth control. Pregnancies. Postpartum. Antibiotics. Stress. Maybe years of bloating, reflux, IBS, food intolerances, migraines, anxiety, or autoimmune symptoms that never seemed connected.
Then perimenopause hits.😵💫
Estrogen and progesterone start changing. Sleep gets worse. Stress feels different. Blood sugar gets harder to manage. Bloating creeps in. Constipation shows up. Weight starts settling around the middle. Foods she tolerated forever suddenly don't feel so great.
And by menopause and beyond, she’s wondering:
What happened to my body?!!!😭
Here’s the piece I wish more women were told:
Your hormones influence your gut, AND your gut influences how hormones are metabolized, your immune system behaves, your intestinal barrier functions, and even how your body handles inflammation.
So no, I don’t think the answer is simply, “Your estrogen dropped. Here’s HRT. Good luck.”
HRT can be an incredibly powerful piece of the puzzle for the right woman.
But it’s still a piece!!
We also need to look at the gut.
Blood sugar.
Muscle.
Nutrients.
Stress and the nervous system.
Sleep.
Inflammation.
The decades of life that happened BEFORE menopause.
Because you didn’t suddenly wake up at 52 with a completely different body.
➡️Your body has been adapting to every season you’ve lived through.
And that means there is so much we can still work with.
Menopause isn’t the end of the story.
It might actually be the first time someone helps you connect the whole damn thing. 🌱
