Great question.

Monday Funday :)

Many like to say that our mamas are older and not very healthy these days which make them 'high risk'.

Others say that birth has become way to medicalized and putting the mamas in this 'high risk' category.

What do you think?

Most home birth midwives will tell you — babies don’t follow calendars.

The majority of home births happen after 40 weeks, because normal pregnancy length varies and the body knows when it’s ready.

The “due date” isn’t an expiration date; it’s just an estimate.

Midwives are highly trained to recognize when additional support is needed and to coordinate smooth, timely transfers when necessary.

That’s not “giving up”; it’s using every resource available to protect both parent and baby.

A planned home birth includes contingency plans, emergency protocols, and collaboration with medical teams when needed.

The goal is always the same: a healthy parent, a healthy baby, and a birth experience grounded in respect and informed choice.

The expertise was always there. The outcomes were always there. The dedication was always there. What is changing is how loudly we are saying it.
