Lakesha Gailliard, a practice manager with Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Coastal Cardiology, was diagnosed with stage 2A triple-negative breast cancer in September 2021. She had two masses in her left breast and another under her left arm.
Over 10 rounds of chemo, she leaned on her faith, her family and what she calls her “dream team,” including surgeon Dr. Megan Baker and oncologist Dr. George Keogh, who made her feel like a survivor in the making.
On Oct. 31, 2022, she received her final treatment. It wasn’t just Halloween. It was victory day, and she has been in remission ever since.
Today, Lakesha walks with purpose to inspire others and remind them that healing is possible and that there is so much life after cancer. Her message to anyone facing a similar battle: You are stronger than you think. Keep your faith, trust your team and lean on the people who love you.
